Anyways, back to this game...
This looked like the GSW series all over again. Turnovers like crazy, the other team hitting anything they throw near the basket wether it be a difficult inside shot or a 30 ft 3.
Time to put this one behind us and focus on the next game. Remeber Washington...the last team to sweep us, knocked us out of the playoffs.
The Wizards have done much better with Arenas, so you're point (or lackof) holds no validity. We've beaten much better teams than this Mavs team with Gilbert.

He's not the only one who feels that way, isn't there a thread on this on your own forum? And also, just wondering which teams are so much better than the Mavs that you are referring to? the Celtics? B/c that's the only team that has a much better record than us thus far. And if I recall, you guys beat the Celts impressively back to back without Arenas.

I'm not talking about just this season. I'm talking about in the past 4 seasons. The Wizards w/Gilbert have beaten better teams than this Mavs team. And yes, we do have a thread on it only because there are a few wizards fans who's job it is to complain and bitch about something even when the team is playing well. There just like those few Mavs fans who don't like Dirk because they think he's too soft and will never lead a team to a championship.

Thats ridiculous to say that. I think Washington will never win a championship while Arenas is in the league, but he is one of the best guards in the league when healthy, and one of the best players in clutch time in the league. If Arenas were to go to another team better built for a long playoff run than Washington is (AKA Dallas, Phoenix, SA, Detroit, etc.), that team would be scary.

The point is valid. Yes Gilbert Arenas is talented but he is also the type of player that can lose you games just as much as he can win you games. He's a chunker and if he's not making it, he doesnt try to get to the hole enough, get his teammates involved, ect, he continues to shoot 3's. That hurts the team.
Comparing Arenas who hasnt done anything in the playoffs, to Dirk who has lead his team to the finals (tho didnt actually play well in those finals) is a silly comparison.
Add to the fact last year the Wizards finished the season 41-41 with Arenas and they year, with a very very similar team, they are currently 22-17 and 4th in their conference without Arenas. Not many teams inmprove when they lose such an important player. Maybe with the emergence of Butler, Arenas will take a lesser role and not force as much, but if he continues to try to shoot himself back into each game where he struggles, then the point is definately worth considering.

You're incorrect and failed to do research. Maybe you should before you slam a player.
The sole reason the Wizards finished 41-41 last season is because Arenas and Butler were both injured. Arenas was out from the begining of April and missed the rest of the season. Butler was lost a few games later. Jamison also missed 12 games during a critical stretch.
Secondly, we haven't improved. We had a better record this time last season than we do now. So there goes your whole argument.
Thirdly, the comparison between Dirk and Arenas is legitimate because Dirk has had MUCH more talent to work with than Arenas ever has. Dirk is a career playoff loser, even with players such as Steve Nash, Michael Finley, Josh Howard, and our own Antawn Jamison. The best player Arenas had played with is Caron Butler, and they've only been in the playoffs for one year together.

STFU its obvious you know nothing about this team. The big 3 didnt succeed when Nash, Finley, and Dirk were here was that our coach didnt preach defense at all, and everyone knows that defense wins championships. If you watch the Finals tapes from 06', you would see how obvious the refs had that series rigged, and everyone knew that we were in trouble last year against GS... We've never played well against them. The Wizards arent half the team that Dallas is, so go back to the Washington board, troll.

Maybe you should follow your own advice.
And dirkforpres...don't even bother. He's sensitive b/c we aren't riding Arenas' nuts, even though you yourself acknowledged that Arenas is a great player in a previous post.

I don't see why everyone is so touchy about this subject. I think the same thing about Jason Terry, Ben Gordon and the Allen Iverson of the Philly days. However, Ben & Terry both are not "superstars" and trying to put the team on their back. If Terry or Gordon were to become "superstars" and run the offense for themselves 1st and the rest 2nd, they those theams won't win it all either. If Iverson reverts back to his old playing style, he won't win either.

Damn...so a half-a-team just owned you guys this year. Nice.
The Wizards exposed your team this year much like Golden State did.

Great. Take your 2 regular season wins against us... Because it wont happen very often. Guess what, you also owned the Celtics but I highly doubt they are worried about Washington any more than we are. That team is destined for an early exit with or without Arenas. At least people are giving Dallas a decent shot at a championship. Youll be seeing me in the Wizards board after they get eliminated again.
