Heat on Outside the Lines Right Now! ESPN

Post#1 » by Heat3 » Tue Jan 22, 2008 8:33 pm

You can delete this thread later, just a heads up for other bums who are at home right now. On ESPN Outside the Lines they will have a piece on the "Humble Heat" after the obligatory Patriots crap.

It was lame. Some "expert" I never heard of talking like he's a Heat insider. Some of his comments:

1) We miss key players: Kapono, Posey, Jones, Walker...
2) Rookies haven't panned out: Simien, Wright, Diquan Cook (yes he pronounced it like that)
3) he said "mark my words he will leave" on Wade after his contract is done.
4) More wisdom: Shaq can be traded to Dallas for Harris or NY for Marbury.....
5) Eric Spolestra will be the next coach (yes he pronounced it like that)

not worth watching.

But also said, if there isn't anything worth staying around for, on the team.

Also mentioned Skiles, if Riley doesn't feel Spolestra is ready.

Why is Eddie Jones considered a key loss? He played alright in the regular season for what we were paying him for, but he disappeared again in the playoffs. Most of us didn't want poor Eddie back anyway. I don't know why ESPN keeps pushing him like he was the reason we were great before, when we clearly were not that good last year either. With him on this team we would still suck but also be older.

Kapono, ok I can see that. I still don't think he is worth that money and I don't know how much he helps this team either. We'd suck and be pissed we're wasting money on a guy who only shoots threes. Posey is the one I miss. He's the one I wanted to keep from the start. I don't know why we just didn't pay him what he wanted, guess Riley hoped Wright would step up but he just doesn't have it. Having said that, even with Posey on this team we would probably be struggling for 0.500 ball right now too.

We've lost 18 games by 7 or less this season, most of the losses have to do with not being able to make threes or defend the perimeter.

We win those 18 games and we are 26-14, we win 2/3rds of them and we are 20-20, we win half of those games and we are 17-21. I think either EJ or Posey would have us in the playoffs, or just out. How many games has Ricky Davis gone (Please Use More Appropriate Word) in the fourth and cost us? Or Turdchucker? EJ would have helped, Posey would have REALLY helped.

I just don't think Eddie Jones is the answer to any of our questions. I would like Posey here, but what we have now + Posey is not enough to put us on the edge of the playoffs.

Huge misprint, but nobody is perfect.

More like Miami better hope it gets a top 5 pick this year, or maybe even the top pick. He said that unless we get a good young player to build around Wade as a sidekick, then Wade will opt out and walk.

Which.....that's pretty much a given, IMO.

Hey, what he said before and after my quote to set the context is irrelevant! I quoted him properly

EJ, while not the solution or the salvation, played pretty well for us down the stretch when Wade went down. I'd rather have him than Turchucker or Penny.

Man I swear most of us know much more than so many of these so called "insiders" or ESPN experts.

ESPN is to sports as MTV is to music.
