He's not "light years" better than Swift. He boards a bit better, and blocks more. His offense is very similar, he doesn't pass, and they both have a turnover problem. This is also not considering the possibility of discipline issues.
Swift is obviously not going to get better, and Williams probably is. Obviously, I think you're overrating him. May as well draft Thabeet, at least he can guard centers.
Don't overrate Emeka's last season? Top 10 in oreb and dreb rates, top 5 in block%, 20 PER, plus a steal a game, and .532 from the field. He was one of the best defenders in the league last year, as well. But sure, he just "didn't try" sometimes or whatever. If at any time in his career Sean Williams puts up a season like that, it will be extremely impressive. I'm sure you'll give that one credit.
If PHX rumors are real!?.......

Have you watched him play? Stats alone do not tell the entire story. And lets remember, he is a rookie. IMO, comparing him to Swift is laughable. Once Sean Williams understands how to harness his overly aggressive play, that dude is going to be a terror in the paint.
Now I'm not saying he is going to be some superstar, what I'm saying is that right now he is good value with a tremendous upside.

He had big games last season, yes...half the time good, half the time bad. What we need is more consistency.

i got one word for sean williams (maybe two words or maybe a compound or a hyphen).... whatever.... KNUCKLEHEAD.
give it time bowens. williams will screw up and end up as the first story on hoopshype and not the good kind of story but the kind of story that makes you wonder if sean williams had been huffing paint thinner 7 days a week for the past 11 years. give it time.
but until then, he looks like a pretty good pick.

Honestly, how can I even respond to that? How do you refute something as vague as "inconsistent?" I guess it's probably not about stats, but how many games below 8 rebounds is that? Below 10 points? Without a block? Was he more or less consistent than other players at his level? How about Al Jefferson? Dwight Howard? In what way?
All I can say is that nobody was complaining about Emeka's inconsistency last year. If anything he was our rock, we always had his presence in the middle on the boards and on defense, and he wouldn't kill us with missed shots because he didn't take many.

He's better pick than Sean May (it's a pity that the rumoured trade din't happened).fatlever wrote:i got one word for sean williams (maybe two words or maybe a compound or a hyphen).... whatever.... KNUCKLEHEAD.

Apparently management didn't think he was anywhere close to Dwight Howard, or they would have offered him similar or slightly less money.
And, can we please move into the here and now? Last year is in the past, and pretty soon, this one will be gone without a sniff of the playoffs too. Time to think and plan about the future.
Speaking about the future, what would you do Paydro? Would you resign Okafor? If so, at what price? If not, would you let him walk? S&T? What are some of your contingency plans if Okafor is not here?

How about this for a future bowens. We do whatever seems right at the end of the season and what is sniffing the post season. I would say two games out of 8 like we currently are is sniffing. But then again maybe my math is to generous. How about if you don't like this team you go find another one. Players and teams are allowed to have down years sometimes, it happens. I would resign Oak at a reasonable price and I think that will happen at the end of the season.
As for Sean Williams he will be a fine player till gets kicked out of the league for the Drug policy or some other stupid thing. Why after all people have said about wanting good upstanding players would someone even consider sniffing Williams. Now that idiot is a cancer if I have ever seen one. I would not want him near my team.

So I have to find another team because I don't like the way some of our players have performed this season? Ok so I guess that means practically every Bobcats fan, including yourself, should find another team because you don't like Jeff McMinus. Afterall, he is our starting point guard and not some scrub reserve.

Below is a link to a good article about Sean Williams in June right before the NBA draft.

I like Sean Williams, so what. He has skills Okafor could only dream about...and he only makes 1.4 million. Excellent value there. Plus we would have money to sign a player above the MLE. We sign Jokafor to a big contract, we're pretty much committed to the team we have. Unless of course we trade our lottery pick for another established player. Myself, I would much rather have Sean Williams, our lottery pick, a mid round pick from the Nets and also cap room to sign a talented player above the MLE.

I am not saying you have to leave. But why stay if all you can do is whine. It is like dealing with a little kid it just gets on everyones nerves. I am a little disappointed but not as down on the team as you by far. I don't want everyone who is disappointed just the ones who do nothing but whine on here all day because it takes away from the reasonable interesting posts.
Yeah Williams is a great pothead love to have him. It is a waste of time to argue because you are not thinking about any really argument. You are mad I get that don't like Emeka fine, but honestly do we all have to hear it all the time. You said your piece we listened now lets move on. As for Williams we will have to see what will happen but unless he gets smarter he will be ousted in a few short years for just being dumb as a brick.
