Predict our record @ ASG break

Post#1 » by BaYBaller » Tue Jan 22, 2008 6:08 pm

I'm bored at work so I thought I'd amuse myself. No analysis necessary. There's 11 games until the ASG break as of this posting:

@SEA - W
@POR - W
UTA - W
GS - L
@IND - W
@MIL - W
@MIN - W
CLE - L
ATL - W
POR - L
SAC - W

This is my somewhat optimistic outlook of 8-3. That would put the team @ 30-22.

I'm hoping for a 9-2 stretch, which should be enough to put us in the playoff picture. The games against Portland (2), Utah, and Golden State are going to be huge for us.

They should be 33-19 going into the break, but if they're any worse than 31-21 then something has to be done for the team. The Rockets are better than Portland, Utah, and GS if McGrady is healthy and Yao is allowing himself to be denied the ball.

With Tmac back, and the way we have players steping up...I think this seems realistic..

I think we have a much better shot at handling Portland then either Utah or GS. Does no one remember how we dismantled Portland earlier this season?

I agree we matchup well with POR. The main reason IMO why POR is surprising everybody this year is because of their outstanding play from their bench. I didn't look it up but I bet their main bench players have huge +/- stats. HOU's bench has also come alive and I think that's why we match up well with them.

However I think the Utah will be easier given they are horrible on the road. The GS game is probably the toughest upcoming game.

I agree that I think GS will be our toughest game. However, don't sleep on Utah. They may be horrible on the road, but we have NO answer for Boozer, and the rivalry factor means Utah will be more than ready when we play them.

WE must win against Portland , Utah and GS , worst case we will drop one but if we drop more than one in those 3 games , we got no buisness in the playoffs.

Agreed. If we want to get back into the playoff picture, we need to beat these teams. Realistically I hope we get 2 out of 3. Golden State will be the toughest.

Anything less than 31-21 is a HUGE disappointment IMO.

why do you all think we'll lose at cle? they have no ans. to yao, and tmac, whilst we only have LBJ to worry about

Agreed. Lebron is a fantastic player, but we have no excuse for not beating them. They are more or less equal to the Toronto Raptors. A team we should beat. I'm most worried about the GS game, and the Utah game. If the refs don't call those two games tight, and allow them to play hackaYao, we will lose.

CLE is playing very well since LBJ and Varejao came back, and LBJ > T-Mac. Varejao is the scrappy defender that will deny entry passes to Yao, and they have a shooting big in Big Z who will get that shot all day. They are also a very strong defensive club who I see us struggling against. All in all they matchup pretty well with HOU.

It is also a trap game in the sense that it'll be the first home game back after a 3-game road trip against sub .500 teams.

Anderson Varejao will be neutralized by being matched up with Luis Scola. This is probably a monumental match up with the Cavs. It's almost a match for match game. LBJ vs TMAC , Ilgauskas vs Yao, Varejao vs Scola. Size for Size counter at 3 prominent positions. Wow.

the only eastern teams that im worried about right now are the celtics and pistons. other than that HOU >>> East. we should demolish the eastern teams with our lineup (if healthy of course)

Well if he's not going to get healthy then it's time to scrap the season anyway.
