what if we could get him him to some Martin type deal at the end of the year and let him play/coach his way into retirement. At this point i think our bigs need more guidance than our guards. He just popped into my mind when i saw the wiretap saying were looking for a big man coach. I havent heard anything about him this year (i thought he retired before the season  )

I don't really like Zaza. ATL needs big men and they don't even use him.

I wouldn't hate it if it got done, but I wouldn't be dancing in the streets.

I'm holding out hope for a Jeff Foster or Kurt Thomas.

Not ony from KW but he's smart! Two people that would fit in great and the only ones at this point who we may have a shot at - especially Thomas, him and BC have a connection of some sort.

My understanding is that he has earned the nickname

"The Human Turnover Machine"

Among the Atlanta Fans, and unless that means he is one heck of a baker
I may have to take a pass

i haven't seen kurt thomas lately but i've been advocating kurt thomas coming here for a while. he's friends with bosh, can guard real centres in the league, bc likes him because he can shoot a little bit and hit free throws, high iq player. he'd be just great to have around.

my view on zaza is the same as everybody else. i'd take him if we were giving up nothing for him (eg joey graham or juan dixon)
Sam wasn't the solution, but he wasn't the problem either

Kurt would be great, but with an $8 mill salary there's nothing we can give to the Sonics that they would want. Given that they already got a first round draft pick (or was it two?) just to take him off of the Suns' hands, it would just be wrong to give them another draft pick - even if we had any 2nd rounders left before 2020.

As some have mentioned, he'd be good to bring in as a free agent next year, assuming that we can deal Rasho's expiring as part of a deal for a nice sf.

Forget Zaza.

Nick Collison is a guy we should be looking at, quietly putting together a great season for Seattle. He's one of the few guys I'd be willing to give up Jose for.

He's a PF tho, I don't think we could use him at the C.

Yeah, if we're going to pick up a PF, it better be a strong physical guy like Brand so that we can get by using Bosh as a full time center.

Do we not need to have some real familiarity with this league to honestly believe that we should go on-line and comment/post about it? KT has been busting his ass in Seattle trying to make that team and it's hapless twosome of Saer Sene and Carrotop.....errrrr Robert Swift...... win more than a dozen games this year. He's often mentioned in trade talks, but the Sonics want some decent prospects as he'd be an awesome big off the pine for a chip contender in need.

Zaza is a guy who would probably come cheap, but he'd probably end up a lost man a la Maceo. Hump and Rasho have earned their minutes and I like them both better than Zaza. I'll give Zaza the fact that he's had some good games in the past, but if you ride the pine in Atlanta, that's not a good sign.
Neither would be a long term solution and I think the realists on this board have all come to the foregone conclusion that this is not a short term team. Unless we steal Jabbar away from LA or Ewing decides he prefers the cooler weather of Toronto (I'm talking as coaches here for those who may have been lost), then there isn't a chance that Bargs gets good enough this season to make us any more than a second round team, if that. I like the Shelden Williams idea, because he definitely brings the toughness and box out ability that our bigs sorely lack. I doubt that we have a package that BC wants to part with to acquire him, but if the opportunity presented itself....?

Just realized the guy I quoted has a tag with Zo in it....says it all right there.

how about, i am familiar with this league, but i dont have access to a tv where i am living right now. And believe it or not sonics games aren't shown too often here, hence the reason i was asking about him. and maybe just maybe i have better things to do then try to watch sonics games online, afterall they do suck.

If you have time to know the in depths of the sonics team then more power to you, but theres no need to be condescending about it.

so to sum up your post, they are trying to trade his expriing contract, but you dont like the idea of acquiring him. So does Thomas plan to retire after the season, sign with a contender or what? and how do you feel about him playing a D-mart role on this team?
