OT: Kenny George
Living in England, I don't get to see much college hoops, but I just stumbled across this Kenny George guy. Man the guy is a freak!!
They say he is 7'7", but he seems bigger to me. George Muresan was 7'7" and I don't remember him dunking without even jumping.
Could this guy make the pros? I know they say he has trouble with his knees.

I don't think he's going to make the pros. A 7'8 tree with 0 skill set has no place in today's NBA game. He does have bad knees, and he plays his minutes in spurts for the most part. I've never seen him in person, but have friends that have. And they say it's unreal how tall he is, and nobody can stop looking.

Does he have giganticism? I thought i might have heard that somewhere.
But, iMO theres no way he would make it to the NBA, sure he is 7'8 but he wouldn't be able to stay out of foul trouble because he has so little body control and NBA players are smart enough to take it right at him.
He seems to get most of his blocks from people shooting mid range jumpers or hook shots but not many from when people take it right at him. Look at the UNC game where Hansbrough went right at him and over him.
and NBA centers these days would just be able to get low and keep him out of the paint.
I just don't see it happening,

Yeah he's got the pituitary gland thingy majig like a lot of those humongous people. I'm sure he'll play professionally somewhere but I don't see him playing in the NBA, especially with Shaq being a non-factor in todays game. 6 hard fouls on the Diesel could have been his calling card.
I'm sure he'll make money just by being tall. He could be in movies or give little kids rides on his shoulders i don't know.

110% not true, Muresan had a very nice skill set.
Do you really think that a player can average 14.5 pts, 9.6 reb, 2.3 blk and .584 FG in 29.5 min for an entire NBA season when he has 0 skill? For a 39 win team, no less?
To be accurate, you have 0 credibility after that statement.
None.
Zilch.
Nada.

And BTW, have any of you checked out his NBAdraft.net profile and seen a few of the videos?
http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/profile ... eorge.html
I'm guessing "no", because he does have a few skills.
If you haven't noticed- and I'm sure you haven't- after taking a few years off because of injuries, he is currently averaging 12.4 pts, 8.3 reb, 4.6 blk, 1.3 ast and .641 FT in 20.3 min per game.
A guy who can hit 64% of his FT during a game obviously has a little bit of skill.
But hey, go ahead and stereotype and assume, it just makes the rest of us look smarter and more well-informed than the rest of you.

No offense, but are you just making this stuff up?
On Dec 29, George put up 21 pts, 10 reb, 6 blk, 1 stl, 1 ast, 0 to in a game that was 101-90 in OT, obviously not a slow-down game.

South Carolina is an SEC school, and George put up 16 pts, 13 reb and 3 blk in 28 min against them.

Mureson also made that awesome cologne/Snickers commercial.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9uaDiRlLBQ
And a pretty great SportsCenter commercial
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1qEBvPmI1s
And had a brief appearance as a ventriloquist in Eminem's "My Name is"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GThn1WlP7Xk (at 1:37, explicit lyrics)
And lets not forget his feature film, My Giant

You can't take that away from him.

I think Im with most of you. A guy his "Speed" is not meant for todays NBA game. Forget the size. Its the speed.
There seems to be a guy every year that is a freakish size 7-7 or taller that has no chane to make it. Because they are slow.
The NBA game is just too fast. Can you imagine that guy trying to keep up with Oden,D Howard, Amare at center? and then all the other little centers you have out there. He probably count match with Mark Blount.
Im not saying the guy doesnt have skills, he just is way to slow. I dont care if a 10ft guy comes around. If it takes him 2 seconds just to get the engines started before he actually starts moving, he has no chance.

Why would I make up anything about Kenny George? Come on now.

He averages 12 and 8 I believe at UNC Ashville. And he gets his points and rebounds purely based on the fact that he's the 7'8 player in college basketball. All he has to do is stand there and get a rebound. And they just toss the ball to him inside and he's going to score.
His game isn't for the NBA right now. He'd get abused. Did you see Tyler Hansbrough cream all over him at UNC? Hansbrough is 6'7 and he dunked all over the guys face. Imagine what will happen in the NBA. He'll foul out real quick, and get abused in the frontcourt. He's a soft tree.

While this may be true, the claim of him having 0 skill is bad scouting in my opinion, and was called. I appreciate Bullsville setting the record straight.
A lot of players with skill, aren't good enough for the NBA. Different issues.

Thank you, kyrv, that's all I was saying.
A guy with "0 skill" doesn't put up 14 pts, 11 reb, and 4 blk in 24 min against the #1 ranked team in college basketball.
A guy with "0 skill" can't hit 64% of his free throws.
A guy with "0 skill" doesn't average more than one assist per game.
This guy has very, very little chance of ever playing professional basketball anywhere, but to say he has "0 skill" is just plain wrong.

Pros? Forget about it.
I played this guy in high school. He is nothing but a big body. Hardly can run the full length of the floor much less keep up with ANYONE. Has NO post skills for his size and scores all of his points just dunking (without leaving his feet) over always smaller defenders.
His strength is shot blocking but any jump shooting team will basically minimalize his talent. Honestly, i doubt he would be averaging half as many blocks as he does if he was in a major conference. His reaction time isn't the best either.
A giant, yes. An NBA player, no.
