Other teams' broadcasters

Post#1 » by pineappleheadindc » Tue Jan 22, 2008 9:47 pm

I went back 8 pages to see if there already was a topic on this, but couldn't find it.

Anyway, thanks to League Pass, many of us have an opportunity to watch the local broadcasts of other teams. I like to hear other broadcast teams (mostly) to hear different perspectives. In no particular order, here are broadcast teams I like to tune into (that are not my home team - Wizards - broadcasters):

Orlando
Phoenix
New York (I like Clyde's use of odd adjectives and adverbs...."TMac is ubiquitous")
Portland
Miami
Indy

What are yours?

I have league pass too. I actually quite enjoyed Portlands and Indianas. I can't stand Memphis, Boston and Denvers.

I personally couldn't stand Portland or Atlanta the last couple times I heard them.

I like Philly, New York, Pheonix.

I hate the Detroit announcer and I'm a Pistons fan.
Just say NO to George Blaha.

I don't mind Eagle and Mark Jackson for the Nets, but Jackson really is Captain Obvious.

Im rather shocked people are picking the blazers. Are play-by-play guy Mike Barrett is great IMO, but our color guy Mike Rice is a horrible homer and ive seen mention in gamethreads from other teams fans they find him annoying.

for milkdud, I like the Blazers play-by-play guy...he's really good. (And I'm not a Portland fan).

The color guy is okay. If you think he's a homer, tune into a Boston or Chicago game one day. Then, you'll appreciate your broadcast team a lot more.

I'm a Memphis fan, and I agree. Pete Pranica is awful with his niche sayings (used to be "dances and drops," but he's chilled on that this season) - although Touhy occassionally has something insightful to say despite his ... effeminate ... tone.

I watch the Nets a lot and really like their Broadcasters. Any team with broadcaster's that aren't homer, I like. Basically everyone except Boston and Toronto.

I really like the Nets crew as well. I would hate my Rockets' crew, because Worrell is such a homer and Clyde has no clue some times (Rafer Alston, a dark horse candidate for All Star?!), but they've been around, literally, forever. Hell Bill was doing TV when Clyde was playing with Hakeem, and even before that. I get used to them.

Atlanta's crew is really growing on me, why Steve Smith doesn't have a TNT or ESPN gig is beyond me.

The Pacers broadcasters suck. Chris Denari knows nothing about basketball, and Quinn Buckner always says right in the middle of a shot if it is going in or not, dude leave some suspense. Stacey Paetz blinks way too much.

You know what I find funny? Chris Denari kept saying that our perimeter defense needs to stay close to Monta Ellis because supposedly he is a "great" perimeter shooter. And also, he sometimes says a shot is a three 5 feet inside the three point line, WTH?
