Suns Asking Price For Amare

Post#1 » by Jordan45822 » Wed Jan 23, 2008 6:19 am

they most likely won't trade him but what would be asking price for him from all other 29 teams? Other than the Amare + Filler for Garnett past rumors before the Boston trade and current Gasol plus for Amare plus rumor. I ain't bothering mentioning Lakers because they will obviously start with Bynum or Kobe. And Spurs don't need him (& probably hate him too).

Bulls, Pistons, Mavericks, Raptors, Pacers, etc etc

Seeing the way that Suns' management seem to run things (see: Kurt Thomas and TWO first round picks for a trade exception).... I think Amare will be dealt to a team who offers a combination of immediate cap space, a couple of picks, and a young player or two.

I don't know if the Suns would do this but I would do:

Deng + Noah + Thabo + S & T PJ Brown + Future 1st for Amare + Bell

Hinrich/Duhon
Bell/Gordon
Nocioni/Thomas/Griffin
Amare/Smith/Thomas
Wallace/Gray

I think Chicago makes a lot of sense but they need to get that deal done NOW because after the deadline, they won't be able to use PJ is a sign and trade and won't have the contracts to get Amare or Pau or Kobe.

Not much of an offer from the Pistons but looking at what we have available I'd say nothing more than...

Rasheed Wallace
Amir Johnson (or expirings)
And a pick (or two)

I don't see Portland doing this, but assuming they really wanted to make a play for Amare, this is the most I can reasonably see them offering...

LaMarcus Aldridge
Sergio Rodriguez
Raef LaFrentz
Portland's 08 First Round Pick

for

Amare Stoudemire
Brian Skinner

Bulls can get them without Brown but either Wallace, Hinrich, Nocioni, or Smith has to be used. And Nocionic plus Hinrich are BYC so thats why I feel the best time is offseason to trade for the Bulls so they have them removed and Deng/Gordon can be used for Sign & Trade.

I'm not sure that I would do it or not but if it's done before the deadline... the Sixers could offer Iguodala, Dalembert, and their 2008 #1 pick for Amare.

This would make the Suns younger and fill in the holes in their lineup.

Nash
Iguodala
Hill
Marion
Dalembert

For the Sixers, it gives the team a legit star player in the post and the team would actually end up with more cap space because they wouldn't have to re-sign Iguodala. This would leave the Sixers with about $22 MIL in cap space that they could spend on Josh Smith and a shooting guard.

And Phoenix would easily pass..

The problem with Gordon and Deng is that they will become BYC players making a sign and trade with them damn near impossible unless the team trading for them is under the cap and there's only one team that will be significantly under the cap (Philly).

Hard to picture the Suns parting with Amare short of landing somebody like Dwight. Dominant bigmen are to hard to find. Even IF you can great value you still come out a loser when u give up the best player.

I'd certainly do Sheed, Amir & a pick or two from Detroit though. I think that's actually decent value for the guy and could possibly help the Suns both now and in the future. But it's still a tough sell. You'd probably have to flip Amir and the pick(s) for another player and sell them on the idea of going for it now while Nash still has a window. Sheed matchs up very well with the likes of KG & TD, but the dude is 33. Ultimately the Suns decline.

Their asking price would be another dominant big....and since they didn't want to give him up in a KG trade, the only other big that applies is Dwight, who is untouchable.
