The jist of it, is that Riley is targeting 2010 as when the team will sign a big free agent. That is the year that Shaq's contract expires. In the meantime, Riley says that he will be using the minimum and mid-level exemptions to try and bring talent to the team. I might be wrong, but I don't think that is going to cut it if he wants the team to win any games in the next 2 years. Draft picks aren't going to save them either. So, is a trade in order?

Williams
Villanueva
Simmons
Storey
2009 2nd Round Pick

For

Williams
Haslem
Wright
Cook

...and that is my final offer, Europa. :)

Ivey/Bell
Cook/Mason
Redd/Wright
Haslem/Yi
Bogut/Yi

...is a pretty nice lineup to build from. Cook has the Ohio State connection, and is shooting very well for a rookie. We've discussed the merits of Haslem and Wright before.

We have no intention of involving Cook in any trades. Wright and Cook would be way too much potential to give in a trade where no prospects are given in return.

But, you get Awvee Storey! Just kidding. We are pretty desperate around here these days. The original trade was:

Williams
Villanueva
Gadzuric

For

Davis (who is cut and goes back to the Heat)
Haslem
Wright

...for what it's worth.

any trade that nets us with royal ivey as our starting PG i am NOT on board with.

Unless of course we get Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Yao Ming, Elton Brand, or Dwight Howard
