Do you accept?
This is a trade I posted on the miami forum. Just wondering what you guys thought about it.
Orl trades: Keyon Dooling(exp), Pat Garrity(exp), JJ redick
Orl aquire: Udonis Haslem and Smush Parker 2009 2nd rnd pick
Mia trades: Udonis Haslem and Smush Parker 2009 2nd rnd pick
Mia aquire: Keyon Dooling(exp), Pat Garrity(exp), JJ redick
Why for orl: I know Orlando fans would love a respectable PF to pair with imo the best big man in the league, Dwight Howard. Haslem is that exactly he's a great rebounder and defender at his position. And might I add he is used to being paired with a dominant (or was dominant lol) big. Also coming bak in this deal is Smush Parker who can be a good defender to relieve Jameer and a future 2nd

I would give them both JJ and a 1st if we got Haslem. I was contemplating giving up Turk in a deal involving Haslem. Haslem is the absolute perfect fit alongside Dwight. He'd be just like Horace Grant was to Shaq. A guy that can play defense, rebound, and hit the 15 footer.

Actually, Smush could hurt. See how much of a team builder he has been in Miami.
Plus, I don't know if I see Riley trading Haslem unless he thinks he has used him up. Their only big men left would be Shaq and Blount. Neither can play 48 minutes, and what if someone gets in foul trouble?
Thirdly, can someone recall a trade within a division that worked out well?

With the Miami Heat at rock bottom in the Eastern Conference, coach Pat Riley discussed with media plans which could help get the team back on track, including getting far enough under the cap to sign an elite free agent this summer, the Miami Herald is reporting.
Thats why

JJ/1st is top dollar? I doubt that would get us a scrub big man. Or are you talking about Hedo? We would obviously get something more with Haslem for Turkoglu, but I'd be willing to set that up as the base of the trade. Also I doubt the Heat are looking to trade Haslem. I think he's up there with Wade in hardest to get.

Is Haslem really the starting PF that take the Magic to a title?
well, he started next to shaq and they won a title. and it's not like we have cap space to get other PFs

I read that entire story that Jon Skilly is quoting from above.
The story said it was a long shot -- but a possibility.
It also said the reason they want to do this is to get far enough under the cap to sign a max player in the offseason. So you want to help a division opponent do that?
Even if Riley does choose this route, I still don't see him doing it before this summer.

I couldn't see Riley doing this, but from Orlando's perspective I certainly would.
Our backcourt still isn't fixed, but our frontcourt is set, and Haslem is around until at least 2010.
Also, as has been said, Haslem is probably one of the best fits next to Dwight Howard.
As long as it's helping us, too! Arguably even more than them.
I feel this is the type of move that would, again, push us up another level.
As for the Heat, I think they will pretty much be treading water for a while before they fall off. Great for them if they get someone solid next year, but how much will it help, Shaq has been declining fast. They're currently the second worst team in the league, I don't think it would help them a whole lot, let alone enough to get them up to our level.
On the flip side, we solidify our front court and improve from already being the 3rd best team in the East.
This is all hypothetical of course, but that is pretty much how I would envision it working out, and I'd sign the dotted line as fast as I could.

The only reason the Heat would do something like this is to clear cap room, but until Shaq does'nt count agianst the cap that's not going to happen. I don't think they can clear enough cap room to bring in any other good players even with this deal. Why trade way your talented players for cap space that is'nt really going to be there until Shaq's contarct is up? I can see trying to unload some of thier scrubs but not Haslem. It's just not realistic.

He knows if Haslem is worth it.
Well, that I would agree with -- except Smush wasn't there when Stan was. This has been his first season with the Heat and he has just outraged everyone there. But the story doesn't talk about Riley dealing Haslem to the Magic -- just that if the Heat traded Haslem and Smush they might be able to get enough room to sign a max player. The trade proposal came from someone who seems to identify himself with the Atlanta Hawks.
Check out the Heat's payroll, though. If they traded Haslem and Parker, the only other players they have to have under contract for next season are Mark Blount and Daequan Cook. That gives them a payroll of about $42 million-$43 million. Add in a high draft pick and a max player obtained in free agency or (even better for them a trade because they could take 20 percent more in contract), and you'd be starting over with Wade, Shaq, Blount, a max player and a top-level draft pick. And they're still hoping that they could trade Blount, too. And Wade would have time to get healthy for next season -- because he's not this season. You still think they'd be in for a long rebuild? I wouldn't get too cocky.
