If you could vote for one player to go to the All-Star game

Post#1 » by Grand Champ » Wed Jan 23, 2008 6:24 pm

Who would it be?

I'd pick Gordon. Even though he started the season slow, he'd win the halftime free-throw shooting contest. And he has actually been a pretty good player for most of the season so far. His defense has improved, and I think he is really going to shine off the bench in the second half of the season.

Other than that, the rest of the team gets voted to the All-Turd team. Except Noah, he's been ok in spurts... He gets voted to the All-Hair team.

Speaking of which, why hasn't Gordon been invited to the three-point contest yet?

I don't believe in sending players from sub-.500 teams to the All Star game.

(It's not an extreme belief -- historically the voters/coaches have felt the same way.)

I would not vote anybody, I don't think anybody is deserving of being an all-star this season.

No one on this team even comes close to warranting allstar consideration this season. Even if I were the grand master of ceremonies with total power to decide who goes, not one single player on the Chicago Bulls would appear.

None of them deserve it.

Exactly. Noone deserves to be in the All Star game. If they had mamoth numbers then that would be a different story, but considering how bad we've played noone should and won't be in the game.

By the way, i still think that the starter should be voted by the players and reserves by the coaches. They should allow public voting for who they want in the dunk contest and the 3 point competition from a pool of selected players.
Why so serious?

Yeah, they really need to invite Gordon to the allstar game. He's the 9th best three point shooter in NBA history. (and best in first 3 seasons).

The year after the lockout I was hoping that the fans would vote MJ into the All-Star game like they voted Magic in, in 1992. I don't know if they've since made a rule preventing non-current NBA players, but I'd love to see a legend come out of retirement to play in the All-Star game.

No one on this team deserves to go to the All-Star game this season.

As for BG and the 3-point shooting contest, he might have been invited if he was shooting 40+ percent from the 3-point stripe again this year. But he's in the mid-30's from behind the arc....that isn't get you an invite (unless you are the defending champ of the contest)

He's shooting 39%. The last two months he has shot 44% and 45% respectively. I would think that'd get notice considering he's one of the best three-point shooters ever.

I don't know if I'd say he's one of the best 3-point shooters EVER. He's very good, but even among former Bulls players alone, his career 41.3% is behind that of Steve Kerr (45.4%) and B.J. Armstrong (42.5%). The top 3-point shooters in history are guys like Kerr -- or guys like Reggie Miller and Ray Allen. Guys who have a longer track record of making a high percentage of shots from behind the arc, and being known as clutch from behind the arc.

I think Gordon COULD eventually be considered among the best 3-point shooters of all-time if he continues to shoot a high percentage as his career continues...but I don't think he's there quite yet.

As for being in this year's contest, he probably hasn't been consistent enough from behind the arc to get an invitation. True, he's been hot from behind the arc for a few weeks now. But 38.5% for the season ranks 45th in the NBA. That's a lot of other guys who could argue that maybe they deserved an invite to the contest. I also think BG's chances were really hurt by how badly the Bulls hve played this season. If the Bulls were one of the top 4 teams in the East, maybe he would have got an invite.

It would be nice if Gordon had gotten an invite, but considering the season the Bulls are having and the fact that BG's shooting percetnages are down from last season, it's no big surprise that he was left out.
