Clippers' owner Donald Sterling allegedly refused to approve the trade.
"I would only make deals to help our future -- anything else is suicide," said Dunleavy. "Anything else and you become the New York Knicks . Now if you want to do that and take on big contracts and long-term deals to potentially hit a home run or get some kind of turnaround, that's not the direction I would go as a businessman or if I owned the team.

wow, of all people. Sterling is the ABSOLUTE LAST person to talk about a franchise being a joke. For what seemed like as long as I was alive, the clips NEVER spent money to keep any of their free agent. Drafting young stud after young stud; satisfied with losing since sharing the stapels center guaranteed them a fanbase.
They were like a farm team for the rest of the league. Developing rooks so they can leave in free agency and become stars. To be honest, the year they had a winning record, Sterling probably was shocked.
