I said this already, but the Marlene and Beth element was written so badly. The escapade seemed so idiotic at times, and Beth being alive and not feeling any ill effects was a little to over the top.

That said, the monster and the sheer shock factor really makes this movie, kind of just have to go into the movie thinking that way. No script, no intelligence, just a lot of shocking events and elements caught on a moving camcorder.

But from the beginning we know Hud, Lily, Rob and Beth were all good friends. I don't think that is such a stretch. If a friend of mine was in danger I could see going back to help them if I can.

Overall I liked the movie. It's not a movie I will re-watch many times. I'll probably rent it when it comes out on HD-DVD to see stuff I missed but thats about it.

I'd agree if it was like a car accident or something, but this is totally different. I think in reality the main guy rob would have gone back but lily and hud should have stayed behind and gotten out of there. I mean why risk the lives of the entire group for the one girl? Then in the end they all die for her anyway. Still maybe the initial going back would be fine, but when marlena explodes I would think they'd get the message that this is bigger than they can understand and that maybe only rob should pursue beth. Personally I was kind of glad they all bit the dust in the end, I was definitely rooting for the monster, and I don't think I'm even evil. It was like natural selection in a way haha. Anyone dumb enough to run into world war 3 deserves to get stepped on or chewed up or exploded. Maybe if there was no love story and they were just trying to escape ground zero the entire movie it'd be more realistic.

I agree with your replay comment. I don't think this movie has much replay value. But it was perfect for a dreary negative degree january chicago weekend.

And as I post this the Giants beat the Packers. I don't think I'm even going to watch the superbowl this year.

Hmmm I think the metal rod was in Beth's shoulder not heart...
People saying how the hell she can just get up from that and run away like nothing? well, adrenaline is very handy during dangerous times..

I also think there were atleast two monsters because the one at the end didnt look as big as the one that was showed during the middle of the movie..
