Prediction for Eastern Conference Lineup

Jason Kidd/Chauncey Billups/Jose Calderon
Dwayne Wade/Richard Hamilton
Lebron James/Caron Butler/Paul Pierce
Kevin Garnett/Chris Bosh
Dwight Howard/Rasheed Wallace

This is how I see the the full lineup being maybe with an extra player being Jamison or Jefferson. Billups will probably be the first player off the bench. I think Butler deserves it more than Jefferson especially since the wiz lost Arenas. Bosh will be on the team Rivers has stated he likes Bosh's game similar to Garnett. I think Calderon has a chance after Kidd and Billups.

I think those 10 get in for sure.

At least one more Detroit player gets in, either Rip or Sheed (because he's a Center). Possibly both. And then Jefferson, Joe Johnson, Jamison, Redd, R.Lewis, Turkaglu are on the short list. I think that Jefferson will get passed over because the coaches won't take 2 players for a losing team and will more likely take 3 Piston's or 2 Magic because of their more impressive records. I'm going to predict the final 2 as...

Ray Allen is NOT having a good year - I don't think he will get a coaches nod.

Outside shot I think for Josh Smith and Danny Granger as well. There having really good season, and there teams aren't really that horrible.

On a side note. If Bogut played all year like he has been the past 8 or 9 games. He would of been a lock to make it.

This is what happens when you stare at statistics too long.

Ray Allen is a no-brainer because he's one of the 3 stars of a 36-6 juggernaut that leads the league in defense. If you compare the stats of the 3 star players, they're all putting up better numbers last season on losing teams. So this doesn't mean they're having bad seasons, it means that they're sacrificing their numbers for the good of the team.

I really wish the team could go with one C, as I believe Antawn Jamison is much more deserving that Rasheed. I agree Ray Allen is an easy decision given Boston's success. I gave the last spot to Joe Johnson over Richard Jefferson and Rip Hamilton because he's been putting up All-Star numbers since joining Atlanta and this year he's finally lead them to the .500 neighbourhood.

No way should Rasheed make the all star team, he has been just taking games off for almost a week...If there is another center on the East that should make the team, it's Sam Dalembert, the only other center besides Howard in the East to average a double double.

Hard to believe that considering the Piston's are 29-13, have spent most of the season ranked 2nd in the league in defense and he's by far their best and most important defensive player. The games I've seen he never coasts on defense. He's lockdown.

And I love Dally but the 2nd or 3rd best player on a 16-26 team isn't going to the all-star game. Coaches are right when they reward winning teams in this instance.

Rasheed Wallace is the best all around C-PF in the eastern conference and he is one of if not the only reason the Pistons remain on top year after year. He brings toughness, he defends, he sets monster picks, he rebounds, he scores in the post, he scores mid range, he scores beyond the arc.

I mean its very hard to find the a player as unqiue as Rasheed Wallace and most importantly he has become a team guy in Detroit and has given up alot stats wise for the success of the team.

Rasheed Wallace should be an all star every year and aside from all the amazing things he can do on a court he also is very entertaining to watch with his on and off court antics.

Just for the record the Philly board is in agreement that Dalembert has been the teams best player and he has certainly been the most consistent.

All valid points.

But Sheed is still considered an all-league defender by the coaches and he's the primary key to Detroit's great defense. Plus with Detroit playing at such a high level for most of the first half the coaches are almost certainly going to reward 2 or even 3 guys from their team before picking a player off a 16-26 team. And since we're pointing out poor play lately, Philly is 2-9 this month.

As for picking out a 5 game stretch where Sheed played poorly? I'm willing to bet that I could also do that with Dally, as well as Bosh, and Pierce and many other guys that will also be on the team. Pick out the worst 5 game stretch for most top players and you could make a 'those aren't all-star numbers' argument.

Don't get me wrong with any of this, I'm one of Dally's biggest fans. But I don't think he deserves to be an all-star this year with his team playing so horribly, I do think the coaches are correct when they reward players on winning teams ahead of players putting up superior stats on losing teams and I do think that Sheed is somewhat underappreciated because he's such an outstanding defender.

i am as big a jose calderon fan as anyone else out there, but i hate how so many people on this board (as well as chuck, leo, and jack) are riding his jock. dont get me wrong, i think the guy is doing an amazing job and that he has being playing incredibly this season, but does he really deserve a spot on the all-star team? he may be one of the top point guards in the east, but that in no way means that he deserves to play in the ASG. remember, positions in the ASG are broken up as guards, forwards, and centers, so calderon will be competing for a spot against point guards as well as shooting guards. off the top of my head, i can think of a number of guards who should make the team over calderon:

-j-kidd
-chauncey
-d-wade
-VC
-ray allen
-richard hamilton

there are probably some guards missing from that list, but those are 6 solid guards who should get the nod before calderon.

i'm not saying that calderon isnt having a great season, i'm just saying that people need to realize that as good a season as he's having, he's just not all-star material yet.

B.S. Neither Sheed or Ray get in this year, the Pistons will have Billups representing them and the Celtics Garnett and Pierce, so no coach will feel obligated to get them in because of their records.

Gerald Wallace/Josh Smith should both get in easily over Sheed.

As for Allen, I don't think there is any case to be made for him, other than his clutch shooting late in games, he's had a bad season. Redd, Carter, even Joe Johnson deserve it over him.
