Trade ID #4431156

Lakers trade:
- Javaris Crittenton
- Trevor Ariza
- Kwame Brown
Bulls trade:
- Andres Nocioni
- Joe Smith
- Viktor Khryapa

The Lakers pick up two productive players who would fit the triangle and complement Kobe/Bynum/Odom pretty well in Nocioni and Smith, ICLO. Smith could even play some center until Bynum gets back and Nocioni can either start at the 3 or come off the bench at the 3/4. Both guys are having good seasons, can shoot from the outside and hustle on defense. Khryapa is just in there as filler.

1. Fisher, Farmar
2. Bryant, Vujacic, Karl
3. Nocioni, Walton, Khryapa
4. Odom, Smith, Radmanovic
5. Bynum, Turiaf, Mihm

With Deng out for a few weeks and the supposed trade talks with NJ, the Bulls might be getting ready for tank mode. So, this deals helps that out a little bit. They save some good money via Kwame's expiring via unloading Noc's long term deal and that extra year on Smith's deal which also clears a lot of PT in the front court for Tyrus and Noah. Ariza and Crittenton are two athletic guys with good size who figure to good fits here.

1. Hinrich, Duhon, Crittenton
2. Sefolosha, Gordon
3. Deng, Ariza, Griffin
4. Thomas, Noah
5. Wallace, Gray, Brown

I like as a Bulls fan Cliff- but with Deng out, if we get rid of Noc, who's going to play SF for us. Ariza is out for 2 months also.
Do we then tank and call up D.Nichols to plug in- that's truly tanking it.

Bynum isn't dead; he'll come back to the team before the playoffs.

And Joe Smith is 10 times the player Kwame is. He'd be better than him at center if only for a month and a half.

Nichols: 48 minutes per game. :)

Actually, Cliff Levingston would play Thabo almost exclusively at the 3, which is probably his most natural position. Then you have Hinrich, Gordon, Duhon and Crittenton to eat up all of the guard minutes. You could also play Nichols spot minutes at 3 as well as Tyrus in spot minutes.

Either way, Cliff Levingston wouldn't worry about it too much. Deng won't be out forever and neither will Ariza.

Odom for Noc and Smith is a very good deal for both teams IMHO. Its a pretty low-risk move for the Bulls, Odom can't carry the team to the playoffs so they should still get a nice pick.

Odom for Joe Smith and Nocioni is good for both teams.
