Something funny from the Knicks' board
So the Knick fans are discussing Isiah's comments that the Knicks really needed KG (as if they were the only ones besides the Celtics that did) and I'm reading the thread when I come across this one:
"i like Zach and he is the most fundamentally sound player this side of Tim Duncan, which is weird considering his love for spinning into double teams."
"Zach Randolph" and "fundamentally sound" in the same sentence?
That's one I never heard before.
Randolph is a good scorer and has a nice mid-range jumper. He can even grab a few rebounds most nights.
But fundamentally sound? Like, playing defense, setting picks, and boxing out? Passing out of a double team and knowing when not to dribble into trouble? Like, not having the body of the Michelin Man?
I don't think so.

Zach is fundamentally sound in some areas,it's just that the flaws are whoppers. Then again....in the context of the Knicks.......
The Knicks nevar had the trade chips to swing a Garnett deal. Too many bloated deals...too few hot young talents. Lee is hardly = Jefferson and where's the Theo...the big expiring? Even the iptimistic NYK fans posted few KG to NYK ideas on the boards here because there was nothing that could do the deal short of some wild 4 team monster where some sucker provides talent and gets Marbury and a pick in 2011

Isn't spinning into double teams one of the things fundamentally sound players dont do?
Apparently fundamentally sound players don't have any court awareness. It would ruin the soundness of their fundamentals.
Poor guy... relentlessly optimistic about a team that's eyeballs deep in Isiah's

I think the Knicks are comprised of the guys that you absolutely hate to play basketball with. You know the type--always looking for themselves first, never playing defense, constantly complaining, undermining teammates and coaches...talented losers basically.
They need to start over with David Lee and Renaldo Balkman. The rest can go to the scrap heap.

Correct. It was a pretty damned funny series of commercials. Looks like they can be found here:

I agree, and I wouldn't hesitate to include Lee or Balkman, good as they might be, in a trade if it meant getting rid of Marbury or Crawford.
Based on hoopshype dot com:
Marbury is signed through 08-09 ($21,937,500)
Zach is signed through 10-11 ($17,333,333)
Curry has player options in 09-10 and 10-11 ($11,276,863)
Crawford is signed through 10-11 ($10,080,000)
Jeffries has a player option in 10-11 ($6,883,400)
They are at $91 million in 08-09, and if all players choose not to opt out of their contracts, they are at $64 million with $5 million of team options in 09-10 and at $45 million with $7.7 million of team options and qualifying offers in 10-11.
Then, if Isiah doesn't do anything stupid,, in 2011-12 they will have a relatively clean cap situation then, assuming that they don't add any more long term salary, Balkman and Lee get mid-level range deals, they have signed 1 player per year to a mid-level contract in the summer of 08 and 09, and they have a few players on rookie contracts.
Man, that is two more seasons after this one where the Knicks are in salary cap hell. Their chances of getting anyone for more than the mid-level exception in 08 or 09 seems to be zero.
So what they have now is what they have in 08-09 and 09-10, except for Marbury's expiring contract and whomever they draft/sign with the MLE.
That's a scary thought.

Nope. The only exception would be if we signed him on to keep him away from some other team.
jrhester wrote:Just curious, if the Knicks were to buy out Marbury, would people want him here on a rest of season, vet minimum contract?
There's some word that Marbury will be out from bone spur surgery, but I think that has as much to do with the depressing situation in NY as it does Starbury's ability to play.

Sign him to keep him off another team?
I would PERSONALLY pay part of Marbs salary to get him on the Lakers.
Dude is kryptonite to winning.
