I guess that Calderon for Bucks pick might have been true.
why was hakeem called "the dream"??"

Because it rhymes with 'Olajuwon'.

remember Canadians are just Mexicans with sweaters

Yup, I think so too.

Colangelo admitting that calderons play recently will end up costing us more to re-sign him, but that we're more than happy to pay up.

Also talking about how andrea was (in preaseason) 'really was one of our more dominant players, and that it did appear he was stepping into a role and almost take the team on, in terms of that role of leadership..or that role of "Im the best player, gimme the ball, let me score, let me do my thing" but then had the knee injury that set him back and that his confidence has taken a tumble.

Also says that andrea was perhaps our best player in the playoffs, which is a very telling sign etc.

So there you have it fellas, it seems like BC is just waiting for andrea to take over the team. To him it seems like it's only a matter of when and not 'if'.

But hey, let the bargnani haters keep on hating. :dontknow:

Mains things that I got out of the interview:

- Don't offer Jose a contract. I will match. He kept repeating how much Jose was going to cost and how he had no problem with it.

- Bargnani's always been a long term investment. Still thinks he'll be special. Does not regret the pick. Colangelo doesn't seem to be Rudy Gay's biggest fan.

- Thinks TJ will be fine but is giving him as much time as he needs. Hopes he returns soon because back-up PG situation now is really bad.

that's very interesting on both bargs and jose. My memory of the Jersey series isn't great (I try to block it out) but I do recall that bargnani played well and that Bosh was (for bosh) a bit disappointing. I thought AP had a good series. Would you guys agree Bargs was our best player against the Nets? Or one of our best?

If healthy, I believe Bargs probably would have been our best player in the series.

Jose + TJ carried us though.

Bosh was relentlessly double teamed by the Nets... any time he touched the ball... bang two guys on him. With Garbo out we had to play Graham and Mo Pete, both of whom were terrible, and could be left unguarded to double Bosh. With Delfino and Kapono, I don't think that is going to be an option for most teams this year. I was worried that problems with Bargs might mean teams leave him open to double Bosh, but it looks like he might have turned the corner.

I like listening to Bryan Colangelo respond to questions. He is very intelligent without coming across as being esoteric. He puts a lot of thought and care to his answer without coming across as being political.

I don't know if you guys have heard the other MLSE GM speak (The Leafs' John Ferguson, now fired BTW). THis is that former Leaf GM would usually say when asked about trade rumours: "I cannot confirm nor deny that we received trade offers from team x for player x."

A bit more about TJ
-apparently his condition hasn't changed from when he was acquired (so it hasn't worsened with repeated stingers - my words bracketed, not Colangelo's) - no additional risk to his situation
-he does, of course, have the condition we already know about the spinal stenosis, so he is more at risk than other players in terms of something worse
-he has not said to TJ that the risk is too great
-wide ranging opinion from the medical experts that they sought opinion from. Wide ranging enough that it puts a question mark out there (about the amount of risk)
-TJ understands all the information they have given him

- about Jose, yes, he mentioned twice how much more he is going to cost them to keep

- Bargs (asked if he made the right pick & if he is, what is going on)
BC - at the time they looked at entire pool & at the end of the day felt Andrea was best pick based on all the things they look at:
-basketball skill
-background
-injury history
-potential (psychological point of view)
-also factor in your team, circumstances and market
wouldn't do anything differently

Projected Roy to win ROY and it might take Andrea a few years to find his place due to his circumstances and Andrea may have superceded what they expected last year.

In camp & early season was one of the best players & was going to step into a leadership role when Bosh was out. Had knee injury which set him back & confidence has had a tumble.

You can't look at 2 week or 1 month window, you must look at a body work. Still believe Andrea has star potential. He says long answer, but the question was complicated.

I love listening to Colangelo too.

Is there a GM at any level, in any sport who conducts a better interview.
