Do you guys think he will ever be bought out? It would be an enormous buyout, but could benefit the heat(and us). LOL. Would DA go after him?

If he wants to come play for the C's at a reasonable price? I say yes 1000%.

I don't see it happening. He is owed 20 mil for the next two years so a 40 million buyout does not make much sense. And I thought even if he is bought out it still counts towards the salary cap over that period anyway doesn't it.

In a buyout doesnt the player usually take less than he is owed?

I wonder if Chicago aiming for expiring contracts for Nocioni (and Marcus Williams) has to do with them wanting to trade those expiring contracts, Marcus Williams, and Ben Wallace in a deal for Shaq.

Shaq's old and injury prone, but Chicago could land him for Ben Wallace, Nocioni, and Sefolosha it would make sense for them

Shaq might be bought out but not until the end of the season.

If, if, if Shaq were bought out and he considered playing for a cold weather city and the asking price was the within our range for one year I don't see how we could say no this summer. Again lot's of ifs.

With our team even if he only played half the season and avg. 24minutes a game when he was active he would be worth it. Danny would be foolish to not go after this.

With all that said we don't need Shaq, but for the minimum I'll take Shaq at 12% strength over most big men in the league.

I'd take Shaq in a minute. He would only be here for the 2nd half of the season, just as winter is ending. So if he came he would be here through spring and the start of summer. Should be warm enough for him.

I watched the Heat game the other night and Shaq looked injured....and I read somewhere he has trouble with his hip and leg....

He'still out of shape and any inactivity will just make that worse...not better...

I dont think the C's would or should have any interest...its a shame to watch a once great player hobble around...Heard (dont know if it is true or not?) that he is going thru a divorce too!...bad situation for a former great... probably best to just let him retire quietly on Miami's payroll...

He would want to win. He has more class than that.

4 titles is nothing to be ashamed of.

i remember at one point in the late 90's and early 2000's when people seriously thought that no other team could legitimately contend until the day shaq or duncan were near retirement.

Yes. However, I believe the CBA requires that the buyout amount not be less than half the amount owed.

I also think that it counts against the cap. A capologist would know better than me.

I was thinking it would make sense for the Heat to trade Haslem and Blount to Minn. for Theo Ratliff. But Blount can't return to Minn. until this summer. Perhaps a third team could get involved.

That doesn't make sense for Minny. Haslem is a role player PF, Minny already has Al, Gomes and Smith at the four. Even worse they have to take on that miserable turd, Mark Blount and they have to take on Blount and Haslem's contracts which puts them over the lux tax next year I believe.

I'd insert a token Shaq fat joke here, but it's way, way too easy.

The guy needs to prove he can play more than 15 games in a row...
