Ouch, Zack Randolph? He will surpass Zack if he hasn't already
umm... zach has been pretty much a 20-10 guy in the league for the past 5 years. but i still stick to my original comparison... he is a sober vin baker. but he cant be a franchise player without any passing ability. hes still a black hole.
but lets see what he does next game. he has a tendency to take a game off after a great performance.

I love Al, he's his own player, and I think he is a future All Star in this league.
HOWEVER
part of me worries if Al is the next Zach Randolph. Someone who needs the ball to have any effect on the game, and someone who will put up big numbers but not help his team win... I just don't know, and I think only time will tell.
You call people out telling them Al is his own player, then immediately compare him to Zach Randolph.

I don't know if I would go that far, considering that a guy like Duncan doesn't need to try and score 40 points for the Spurs to win. However, watching the T-Wolves play the last few games (mainly because they've been playing when the Celtics aren't), I will say that he's among the top tier of lowpost scorers in the league. He's got a lot of moves and a quick release that allows him to get his shots off. He just needs to improve his passing and defense. Once he does that, his team will start winning more and he'll be considered for an all star appearance.
What you need to understand is that, a player like Al will go for a shot almost every time he gets the ball on the box. And because he's a good scorer, he'll make the basket at a decent clip and get the points. However, that doesn't mean he's superior to a player like Duncan or Yao, who's willing to pass to a teammate in a better position to score nor that Duncan or Yao can't score in those situations if they just forced the shot up. It's not that they are incapable of scoring in those situations, but they understand the game enough to understand that it's not always the best option. And passing around the ball creates better movement on offense than spending 15 seconds trying to take your guy for a score, even if you succeed.
This is where just looking at scoring and rebounding numbers to judge a big is flawed. When you look at those numbers alone, you may think Al is better than KG, but we all know that's not the case.

Actually if his statement is that Big Al is the league's best post scorer, statistics on how Duncan doesn't need to to score probably aren't going to help your argument.
That said there's no question Duncan is the superior player.

You are right. But I'm not really trying to flat out say that Al isn't the best low post scorer in the league. What I'm trying to say is that, people look at things from such a simpleton's view. It's a little more complicated than that.
There is more to low post offense than just scoring on your guy. This is why there is so many Zach Randolph comparisons. One-on-one, in the box, Zach Randolph is a great offensive player. However, he causes his teammates to stand around. OTOH, when you watch KG, maybe he doesn't have as many low post moves, I don't know, but he decides what he wants to do with the ball quick. If he's going to shoot, he goes into his move quickly and if he doesn't see it, he keeps the ball moving.

A pure lowpost scorer. I mean he has moves down on the baseline, a hook shot, and the occasional pump fakes to freeze you. Its so rare to see that now a days. I'm just glad that he was a Celtic during his young career. I'm hoping for the best for him. Maybe in the next 5 to 6 years, he can come back to the white and green.

Bassy and Gomes have been playing well too over there on the bizarre-o Celtics. I am excited to go to Fridays game. Does Perk guard Al and KG guards Gomes?
I think that would be the most likely matchups.
Perkins and Big AL, best friends going up against each other, should be interesting.

Just watching those clips of him schooling Amare was just something. Its part Amare being overrated as a player and part Big Al being underrated as a player. Amare is not great defensively and Big Al proved it there. Big Al has it tough probably against Dwight then he does anybody else in the league. It'll be interesting to see what Perk can do on him. I love KG to death but Big Al can put some moves on him that can be embarrassing.

Great guys, young hardworking big men.
Almost forgot about another bizarre matchup, Rondo vs. Bassy. Amazing that just a year ago Bassy was our starting PG!
In a strange way, the C's are built for beating the Wolves strictly based on offsetting skills. Perk is pure post defense, KG is long and mobile, Rondo is quick and athletic and can get to the hole with ease. Should be a fun, passion filled game. I'm sure the (new) Minny guys are going to give it their all playing with a chip on their shoulder.

One-on-one, in the NBA, offensive players always have an advantage. That's why you rarely see guys like Duncan, Yao, or even Big Al see single coverage against anyone. That's how good everyone is in the NBA. Whether it be KG or Perk, they will most likely get help from double team on Friday. Especially since passing isn't one of Big Al's strengths.
