Experience

Post#1 » by mwhis21 » Thu Jan 24, 2008 12:56 pm

Hey Board,

I posted in the LUCKY/Fan Entertainment poll, but I figured maybe many would be disinterested in reading that far. So here is the deal: I am a member of the Celtics Green Team this year. I sent a couple of PM's to Darth this past Summer and asked him to tell the other MODs so that if I posted anything they would know its legit. With all the stuff that went down with Celtic Thug this summer and "insiders" I didn't want to stir the pot any further.

First off, my real name is Matt, so if you guys are ever at the game, give me a shout if you see me around let me know your from this site, it would be cool to actually meet some people from this board.

I love this board and the creative talk so if everyone agrees I can share some of my experiances with you all. I am in a very privelaged position to see a side of the game that most do not get to see and I have already had so many great experiances its almost unexplainable. I wish you all could spend one game doing what I am doing, its just incredible. So here is what I wrote in the other thread.

Hey guys,

I wasn't going to say anything because I do not know who patrols this site and what not, but I did let Darth know and he was "suppose" to let the other Mods know as well, but I am on the Celtics Green Team. Also at the time all that stuff with supposed "insider" knowledge was going on at the time. I was hoping to share some of the cool experiances with everyone because I am in a privelaged position to see a side of the game that most do not and get to meet people most only dream too.

Just to clarify Lucky did not break his knee its just a sprain and it won't keep him down long. We were practicing for an insane dunk for one of his dunk shows and his landing went bad, but he will definately do the dunk this year, but probably not for a month. I will start by defending him and saying that man is gifted, it looks easy jumping on that trampoline, but take my word for it, its not that easy. More importantly he is one of the most down to earth guys and LOVES the Celtics. Apparently he is regarded in the NBA as one of the two best mascots him and the man from the UTAH JAZZ.

Do I like all of the stuff that we do? No I do not, but our job isn't to out shine the Celtics or the cheerleaders we are there to assist lucky and give the younger fans a good time. We have obligations from sponsors to do stuff during the games. As you probably noticed every event is sponsored by something. Heck though, I get to watch every game from the court, I get to be on the court, I get to meet a ton of people its just an awesome experiance. I wish that everyone here could experiance what I have been. The crowds have been awesome.

They give away some awesome prizes. It was brought to my attention that last year someone one a million dollars from the scratch ticket thing and there is a cool prize that you can online to the reebok store and create your own sneaker. Yeah we have to act obnoxious out on the court when we throw T-shirts, but its all in good fun and it seems most of the crowd likes it since they got nuts for free stuff.

Heck though, I get to watch every game from the court, I get to be on the court, I get to meet a ton of cool people its just an awesome experiance. I wish that everyone here could experiance what I have been. The crowds have been awesome. On top of it all I get paid. Not much, but I would have done it for free.

Anyway, I just thought I would drop a line, if the board is interested I can write about some of the experiances, but I didnt want to go through all the stuff that Celtic Thug went through over the summer so I just kept quiet. I've got to meet alot of players and celebrities and its really cool to see a lot of stuff that I get to see.

If any of you all go to the game and see us around just yell
MWHIS or MATT: I am at basically every game so hollar at me it would be nice to meet some people from this site.

So do you get to watch the practices? To me thats the real interesting stuff as I think you probably get a better feel for player work ethic, progress of youg players, etc.

I love me some experiance, yours sounds like a lot of fun for you.

That's great you work for the C's. Just curious though, how'd you get the job hook-up? Also, were you a cheerleader in highschool/college?

My brother used to work in the F.O for the Celtics (nothing exciting, season ticket holder stuff) and now he works for a team in the West (can't say which in case i post "insider" stuff  )

But when we would talk, he would have some of the best stories. He would tell me how down to earth most of the players are, and which ones are complete dicks. Don't underestimate them, it's a lot of work. So if anyone here has an account with the Celtics, be sure to thank your rep for the job he's doing.

Good for you Matt. Sounds like cool gig. And, yes, what Lucky does is definitely not easy. It's spelled experience btw - just so you know why the replies keep mentioning it... Please keep us posted with some insider stuff if you have anything juicy.

The Celtics (players) practice at healthpoint/BSC in Waltham. They have their own court/training facility. Day of the game they may share some court time with the cheerleaders down at the garden... MWhis, where do you guys practice? Is it at the garden?

It does take a LOT of sponsorship to foot the bill that pays our players $74,626,104 this year.

That stuff doesn't bother me. It is a litte gaudy, but I think the cheerleaders are much more annoying. They are dressed so whorishly sometimes that it is pretty over the top. Especially for "younger fan" eyes.

I'm pretty sure KG would have sold out just as many games for us this year with or without the new cheerleading squad.

Anyways, please share any "insider" stories about the players or staff that you feel comfortable relating.

The duncing team should not be there. All that is needed is championship Celtics basketball and someone playing the organ.

16 titles during the great times. 0 titles with the dance squid around.

Also remember that I am the one with real insider experience, as I told you that someone was sealed and delivered, and then a few days later they announced that Will Blalock was arriving for a couple of visits.
