The way I see it.. We are paying Lamar Odom 14 million dollars and he doesnt excel at anything....

We could be paying someone else the same amount of money who actually excels at defense

+1

First of all, big contract, big turn off. Agreed. But he's everything this team lacks, meaning we are already sufficient with scoring. I don't want to go in depth with this subject on this board.

Just to give you guys a little sucker punch, please remember that most of you guys we're the ones supporting a Bynum for JO type trade. Then bashing Mitch for all he has done over the past 3 years. We're one of the fastest teams to rebuild while competing, and Mitch has been highly underrated and underappreciated. I'm just saying this though, don't be so fast to judge and assume certain aspects of NBA basketball that we don't know about.

We have the following:
An underrated and underappreciated GM (and Owners to an extent)
One of the best coaches out there, Phil Jackson
The leagues best player, Kobe Bryant
One of the league's top upcoming player, Andrew Bynum
The triangle offense

Now all we're missing is a defensive identity as a team in rotations, help defense, post presence and so forth. Ben might not be the answer, but I am stating and proving what we lack and a possible answer that is realistic.

Like honestly. This is the Ben Wallace who has had a negative impact on the Bulls' defence every season...the one who is having the worst offensive season for a center EVER, and whose rebounding and shotblocking are going downhill FAST.

This thread needs a lock.

Pretty cool assumption man.

Let's look at the facts. Last year, I wonder why they swept the reigning champs (Heat), but lost the year to them prior to that. I wonder what kind of addition they could have added. This year, I wonder why they fired Coach Skiles. There is so many flaws in the Bulls game right now, so don't even compare them to the Lakers or assume Ben's possible impact.

I'm stopping at this.

Look at the way the Heat played last year and this year and that should tell you why the Bulls won.

Look at the Bulls this year and tell me the impact he's making...Ben Wallace sucks.

If I were to look at the Bulls this year and say the impact anyone on that team is having I'd have to say that they all suck... Hinrich, Gordon, Deng.. All of them

You guys are right about one thing though.. Its impossible to tell how much defense Ben Wallace can still play with how bad they have played this year and 14 million is a lot of money

Nope Ben is a waste of money and so is Kwame. Phil needs to start Turioff at pf and odom at sf. Turioff so far is a the best Power Forward on the Laks. He can hit the face up jumper and catch the dish from Kobe and finish it and he doesn't charge like Kwame and Odom.

When Bynum gets back well be back on a winning streak again. We just need to somehow get rid of Luke and Kwame, these guys are not aggressive at all, and when they try to be aggressive the just get stuff or turn the ball over.

We also need to get Kobe the ball in the post more often to create plays, he is the most effective player on the laks besides Bynum at the spot. If only Kobe was 3 or more inch taller he'll be one of the best power fowards to ever play.

Fisher/Farmar
Kobe / Sasha
Odom / Ariza / Kobe
Turioff
Bynum

Last year, 2.4 points better.

He's giving up a PER or 19.3.
He's shooting 35% from the field.
He's having his worst season block and rebound wise statistically since 1999/2000. Back then, he only played 26 minutes a game.

Just ask Chicago fans.
They have an 18 page, get wallace out of chicago thread.

good stats.. admittedly, I have not seen much of BW this year and I didnt know it was that bad... there has to be a PF out there though that fits this team better than LO

True Odom does suck all the sf, he can't shoot consitantly. He is best at the PF spot, but he sucks in the post. Just don't expect anything from him except for hussle and rebounds and u won't be dissappointed. Hopefully, Bynum can make up for Odom's weakness. Well, one thing is Odom has good chemistry with Bynum.

Odom does not suck in the post, he is just reluctant to go down there for some reason.... What he does suck at is shooting 3's, shooting in general, and attacking the basket when his left is taken away.... Maybe he has Chris Webber/Rasheed Wallace syndrome

uhm.. he wouldnt be backing up Bynum, he would be starting at the 4... and if anything he would take pressure off Bynum defensively as he would guard the opposing teams best post player

you're seriously overrating his defense. as for playing the 4 next to bynum, thats a terrible idea. two players that can't score outside of 6 ft is not going to work. bynum's effectiveness would be immeasurably hurt by playing next to wallace.

uhm yeah... That sure effected the Bulls and Lakers with Rodman/Longley and Shaq/AC Green/Samaki Walker

You may be right about me over rating BWs defense and Ive already said I havent watched very many Bulls games this year

i'm not really sure how those duo's compare to wallace/bynum. longley wasn't a low post player at all and green/walker weren't as inept as wallace on offense

Many Chicago fans view Wallace like they did Chandler

On the Bulls, he does not do as well as expected. (Although Ben led Bulls in steals last year).

However, a change of scenery does wonders. look how Chandler excelled once he got out of Chicago.

Most Bulls fans believe Ben will do well in LA. With Phil & the triangle and with Kobe, Ben will play much better than he does now.

The Bulls dont have a decent coach, no stars, and no leaders. Ben is not a leader - but a follower. He would fit in with LA.
The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.

The funny thing is that the people whho want wallace are the same ones who complain about Lamars contract. Ben is a worse player and more overpaid than he is.

People complain about Lamars contract because for that price you should at least be a specialist at something.... What does Lamar excel at? please tell me because I would really like to know...

Thank you damnit. I've been saying that sh** for too long. Whether we get him or not, I just want our defense to improve. Too many people here assumes so much. It's getting old. It just so happens to be the same people that wanted a Bynum for JO trade and bashed on Mitch for the past 3 years. It's cool to give opinions, but don't make a statement with a weak argument.

I never complained about Lamars contract. I only complained about his passiveness. Stop assuming and get your facts straight. We all know Ben is expensive, but for Kwame and Vlad? 2 players who we didn't need during the 10 out of 11 stretch. I'm not saying get him, and get him now, but I am suggesting to establish a defensive identity.

He shoots .347 from the field and from the free throw line .439 not good numbers offensvily to say the least and his stl and blks are dwn from his carrer average. Granted he has been hurt somewhat this year and Noah has started to take some time from him at the 4 position but he is 33 yrs old now and is in a decline. However the contract is the thing that hurts if he was expiring nxt yrs I thing it would be doable but it's not so I would have to say no.

I think his lack of Offensive skills hurts so much w/ teams being able to foul him in certain close games and teams really not having to play him on defence.
