Thoughts on Gerald Wallace?

Post#1 » by FARMERMAN10 » Mon Jan 21, 2008 3:49 pm

So as everyone knows, Gerald Wallace has been on a tear lately, producing in almost every cat at a level high enough to put him in the top 10 overall.

As a Gerald Wallace owner, I wanted to consult with others as to what their thoughts are about this guy. Obviously he has a history of turning it on after the first few months of the season, but what would be a good course of action with him? Should we ride his hot streak out, or look to sell high?

I personally am trying to get a top 10 PF/C, or package him in a deal with D-wade, and see what happens.

i have Wallace and i plan on keeping him. i think he'll keep this level up the rest of the season.

i mean if u could get Amare, or someone like Caron or something, i say thats a must, but besides that id keep Wallace.

i was offered KG, and Granger for Wallace and Jamison, and i said no way. cause i believe wallace will be a top 10 player the remainder of the year.

Damn, exactly what I was thinking today.

Not see spectacular you may say. But I haven't made a single trade yet, nor proposed one, but today I've decided I want to sell him high. (also tried to put together some trade packages)

He also has a history of injuries and although I believe he will stay a good contributor and stay a top 20 player, his trade value can't get much higher.

I'm trying for a package involving a Camby/Kobe, or something like that. (although with Cambys play, its not likely)

Another deal i'm trying to make would have Lebron/Wallace (the guy is a cavs homer) going out in exchange for a package of Chris Paul/A. Stoudamire

what do you think of that Lebron deal? to much to give up? I could add in a Boozer/Caron Butler swap and make it a three player deal.

great minds must think alike

good point on the injuries, actually was just at the cats/spurs game, and watching wallace crash his right shoulder into the basket support made me cringe...

let me know what kind of packages your trying for

Marion > Wade
Camby > Gwall (both are injury prone)

I HIGHLY doubt the other team accepts

your offers are good but you might be givin up too much in the second one with lebron, first try the 3 player deal with you getting the better 3rd player

after looking at it, those were my thoughts as well.

this guys playing hardball... he's asking for

Gerald Wallace
Lebron
D.Wade

for

Amare
C. Paul
Butler

Basketballmonsters fantasy trade checker gives it a positive rating (.83) but I worry that its being skewed by huge gains in both the FT% and FG% cats, with small losses everywhere else

obviously thats only one tool in the decision making process.

I am tempted by the abilty to dump Wade for good talent, and obviously Wallace and his risk to fall off.

Conversely, I worry that

A. Paul will experience some small injury, with the aggressive way he plays

B. Caron will slow down once Arenas comes back

thoughts? right now i'm leaning towards rejecting it

i mean thats 3 top 10 guys for 2 guys who are top 15 and wade who will prob shut it down later on

Agreed, it is his three best players...

I went ahead and countered by adding a Mike Bibby/David West Swap

Any news?

My first offer was Wallace-Joe Smith for Martin-West.

Second offer Wallace-Calderon for Billups-Martin.

Am I aiming too high?

tony or anthony parker?

if its Anthony, do that deal

tony parker... I'd still be tempted, because of his injury issues

I shopped G wallace around for a bit, but didn't get any bites that just blew me away...

so as for now I retreated back to holding onto him, my teams really coming together and I just made a trade for Josh Smith...

so I'm gonna let things go for now. I'm still interested to see what others do with him though.
