Another rumor for J. Kidd

Post#1 » by Tommy Trojan » Fri Jan 25, 2008 8:45 pm

I know it's Peter Vecsey, but how nice would it be if we can bring Kidd to LA.

You don't need a source to know the Lakers, Cavaliers, Nuggets, Celtics, Mavericks, Suns and Spurs are interested. Only the Lakers and Cavs have the necessary resources. That leaves the remaining teams maneuvering for Andre Miller (unavailable for the time being), rising free agent Sam Cassell ($6.15M) and Damon Stoudamire (a tough sell unless he and the Grizzlies can agree on a settlement concerning his $4.3M/$4.65M guarantee).

The Lakers can not make a trade for Kidd or any other superstar at this time because of Bynum's injury. You can't trade Brown and filler because the Lakers would have no low post presence. If they trade Lamar then they have no PF. NJ is not going to send Kidd and a good big man for just Lamar. I think the Lakers are going to let this team get healthy and see what happens.

Wow we have 3 frontcourt players hurt and the best Vescey could come up with is trade rumor for a gaurd. Vescey is such a tool.

I don't want Kidd anymore anyways. The Nets have Carter and Jefferson and still can't put together W's in the East. Kidd also sucks at shooting. no thanks.

seriously, we should think about substituting the word rumor with "invention" or the phrase "Ijust pulled this out of my a55" when making threads.

Sorry about the Ben Wallace RUMOR i posted. unfortunately I haven't posted 4,000 plus times on this site so i don't know all the unwritten rules.

It did generate 71 responses though so at least it got people talking.

I agree, with you completely.

And you know everytime that something is reported by the NY Post it never happens.

no need for apologies, we are not making fun of you. it is the people who write these articles that start "rumors" without any basis that are laughable and we should make fun of them.

think about what this thread tittle would have sounded like:

Vescey-I just pulled this out of my a55 about J kidd.

In my opinion, committing $20 million a year on Kidd is too much with the current play of D Fish and the rapid development of Farmar... The player on their roster we hsould be chasing is RJ...

^I kinda agree One Love.

If a deal were to be made and Odom was involved in either one a part of me would want Jefferson over Kidd.

With how well our PG's are performing and how bad and dinged up our SF's have been, it makes more sense...plus I am totally against trading Farmar.

Odom for Jefferson seem somewhat reasonable for both teams in their current state:
-The Lakers need some a second scorer. Jefferson brings stability to the SF position and is also pretty unselfish for when Bynum comes back. It also allows Ronny to get more minutes at the 4 where he's more suited.
-The Nets don't seem entirely ready to give up on Kidd and they need an offensive PF desperately.

::shudders at the thought of agreeing with Star::

^^^^ One thing I do not understand is the Nets are barely going to make the playoffs, if they even do. Kidd is not getting any younger and the longer they hold on to him the more his stock will drop. So you not make a trade, get rid of some salary and start rebuilding.

we don't need a trade for kidd
not that we could pull one off that didn't leave us with holes in the front court

we'll stand pat and wait for everyone to come back healthy

Id rather keep Farmar. Hes a winner and our tony parker. I love kidd but at that age and contract, we dont really need him as much as we once might have.

We are in a much better position to get him then anybody. We have the best pieces expiring contracts with young talent and we have leverage with Fisher and Farmar there we are not nearly as desperate. As a matter of fact if there were no salary rules I think A Farmar for Kidd straight up would not be to far off.

I did not think he meant me Tony. But, never the less if it was for me and you don't agree with it don't post anything.

Let the thread die.
