Denis Rodman - best rebounder of all time?
Will we ever see anyone even come close to Rodman in his prime? I personally dont think so. He was an absolute beast in the paint. If so, then who?

And he still only has the 35th best average for a single season.
Definitely the best for a player in the last 25 or so years.

Rodman was a beast of a rebounder. Having a psycho powerfoward who will do anything to get a rebound and intimidated players is such an asset.
I actually miss rodman...him and his crazy antics. The offcourt stunts he would do were awesome. From the color of his hair to the tattoos in his skin Rodman was a beast. Even his jersey #...91! its all insane haha everything about him was off beat and it was good for the nba.

people bring up Wilt and Russell playing in a faster paced game, but I'd like to bring up the fact that they also played larger roles for their teams. Rodman was a good rebounder yes, but when he put up those jaw-dropping stats he was doing only one thing: rebounding. He would completely abandon anything and everything else to go for those rebounds. I don't blame him, it's what they asked him to do, just go grab the rebounds. But it's much more difficult to rebound when you're expected to provide both offensive and defensive presences. How are you going to rebound when you're going for the block? Or when you're taking the jumpshot (offensive rebounds). Your focus is elsewhere at times.
I'll say it's either Wilt or Bill. i'll go with Wilt if I have to choose one, and here's why...
1. He averaged 22.9 rpg for his career (compared to Bill's 22.5)
2. He was relied on far more for offense than Bill, so while Bill was focusing mostly on defense and rebounding, Wilt was focusing on offense, defense, and rebounding.
3. Wilt once grabbed 55 rebs in a game, AGAINST BILL RUSSELL!

not to take anything away from wilt and russell, but the game was totally different back then. The big men werent as big and strong or as athletic as they are now. im sure dwight howard would avg 20 rpg in that era. wilt and russell were ahead of their time for big men.

Actually, I am sure Howard and prime KG can average close 30 rebounds per game in Wilt's era.
And yes, Rodman is by far, the best rebounder ever.

Even if you account for Pace, Wilt and Russell's rebound rates are still outstanding, particularly Wilt who had so many responsibilities.
