I listed 3 in my response which you summarily rejected without cause.
- injuries
- trades
- player drop off in production (slump)
Are these not even possible in your mind?
What makes this even more interesting is that in another thread you wrote:
i dont no why u guys arent a little worried about this keyon was kinda gimpy in the last game we only have two pgs right now and one is not full health and isnt really a pg having jameer to come off the bench deffinitely would not hurt us tonight

nice stuff...
No kidding?
I'm surprised at that for two main reasons:
1. You wouldn't think he would dog is brothers team like that.
2. We would have to go 16-22 (.420) the rest of the way on an easier schedule than what we've had so far in which we've gone 27-17 (.614).
Note: Not trying to copy whocares.
For what it's worth, I agree that Boston and Detroit are a level above us, but I think Jeff is being a bit extreme.

lol jeez man when i said their is no reason why they couldnt i simple meant they are very capable of doing it i wasnt taking a shot at anyone, of course injury and trades can factor in but if we can keep our top play going for a little bit over half of the games left we could definitely do it. as for what i said in the other thread i mean that. i dont see it as a huge season altering problem but i was merely saying having jameer come off the bench couldnt hurt. you took everything a little to far to the extreme. but i still like your sig

what winning 50 games will do for us???, if at playoff time we are going to laid like bitches against the Pistons, like we did tonite... lol
Well, for starters, if we win 50 games we're not likely to play Detroit in the first round.
So, if we lose to Detroit in the Playoffs, that's probably alright with most people. I mean don't get me wrong, no one wants to lose, but I think most people will be okay with us making it to at least the second round. It's another step forward.

It's possible, but I don't think the schedule is easy and it won't be easy for the Magic to do it. There are no more West coast trips. But they still play a lot of teams that would be in the playoffs if they were held today -- one more against Detroit, one against Boston, one against Dallas, one against San Antonio, three more against Washington, two more against Toronto, two more against Cleveland, two more against Indy (which always gives them problems), three more against Atlanta (which the Magic apparently cannot beat any more consistently than they can Detroit). They can't allow many more games where they get outrebounded 49-31, including two when one of the opponents is lying on his back on the ground when he gets the rebound.

Maybe he thinks he's helping out Stan by providing a little extra motivation.
Or maybe he's still mad at Orlando because of all the stuff that went down around the time of the T-Mac trade. After all, he didn't come join his staff here, even though Stan asked.

wow. everyone is pretty optimistic after a 3 game win streak. what have the Magic shown in the last 15 games? that they can't consistently win the games we'd think they could.
i think we'll be pushing high 40's. but we won't make 50. if we do, AWESOME! but i still find it unlikely.
we're a streaky team. if we get hot like the start of the season, or the past few games, then ok. otherwise, you'll see more of the record we've been posting recently.

It has nothing to do with talent or the teams we play and everything to do with if we come out with intensity or not.
We could have won tonight if we wouldn't have came out playing like girls thinking we could somehow coast through a game against the Pistons in their house.
Pretty much every game we've lost outside of maybe 6 or 7 were lost because we didn't try on defense and we got lazy on offense just jacking threes.

what's our record been since we hit the slump after our 16-4 start? must be close to a .420 average right?
Fair point, but...
2. We would have to go 16-22 (.420) the rest of the way on an easier schedule than what we've had so far in which we've gone 27-17 (.614).
We played great ball.
Then we played not-so-good ball.
Combined this has left us above average and 3rd in the East, all while playing a tough schedule (most road games in NBA, on top of a reasonably tough opponents).
Now we're going to run through an easier schedule the rest of the season.
I see no reason to expect that through the rest of the season we will play as we did at our worst. If anything, you would expect us to play somewhere in the middle, which would be somewhere around our overall record or about 23-15 the rest of the way.

We will not win another 23 unless we get a real PF in here. We have no rebounding outside of Dwight, and when Dwight has to come out of the paint we are ****.
If Otis can't see this small basic of basketball he should resign immediately because we are soft inside after dwight IMO.

aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Hubie pointed out that the Magic are the 28th worst offensive rebounding team in the league. When you have the league's best rebounder, that has got to tell you something.
I think Otis can see that they need rebounding. It's just that he might not be able to get a deal he wants without giving up a piece of the roster that he wants to keep long term. And he's afraid if he gives up one of those pieces, that it will hurt the roster in other areas for the long term. It's apparently more important to him to keep the roster he wants long term and to just try to get through this season with Battie out because of an injury and then work on shoring up the shortcomings in the offseason.
This is what I think Otis means when he says he is happy with the roster. Not that he is happy forever with it. He's happy that he has it as good as he can get it for now without messing it up long term and that he hasn't liked enough any trade proposals he has received to make a change.
