About time. Thorn needs to buck up and pull the trigger on something, the Nets are done. They won't get much for Kidd at this point, but keeping him around isn't going to increase his value either.

New Jersey thought they had problems now, watch a team void of all leadership, a team whose primary voice would be Vince Carter's.

They're screwed.

well its a domino effect.

yall might as well throw bids up for RJ and Vince.

Vince is 30
RJ is 27 , theres some serious rebuilding to happen.

Kidd leaves, VC leaves, if VC leaves then RJ leaves.

let the draft picks and youth start coming.

Lakers offer Kwame, Vlad, Mihm, Critt, Sasha, and a 1st for Kidd and Magloire. It might not seem like equal value but when a star asks for out his value drops and New Jersey WILL be low-balled.

5) Jamaal Magloire/DJ Mbenga/Andrew Bynum
4) Lamar Odom/Ronny Turiaf
3) Luke Walton/Trevor Ariza
2) Kobe Bryant/Coby Karl
1) Jason Kidd/Derek Fisher/Jordan Farmar

This would enable us to sign Ruben Patterson, Chris Webber, and Jalen Rose.

Lineup when healthy:

5) Andrew Bynum/Jamaal Magloire/DJ Mbenga
4) Lamar Odom/Chris Webber/Ronny Turiaf
3) Trevor Ariza/Luke Walton/Ruben Patterson
2) Kobe Bryant/Jalen Rose/Coby Karl
1) Jason Kidd/Derek Fisher/Jordan Farmar

That team could take anyone in this league.

If they'll take expirings and a first, count the Magic in.

Realistically speaking keeping Kidd, sucking, getting a high lottery pick, and then either moving him on draft day, or just letting his contract expire at the end of next year makes the most sense.

I figure 2 years in the lottery + an expiring 20+ million contract + the development of young players already on the Nets roster + a move to Brooklybn

Is a nice way to rebuild...

For his witty interviews and hilarious insights on the team?

Because he has an extensive wardrobe to wear on the bench?

Because his name is awesome?

That's the best I could do.

Other than Sean, who do you think develop to be good/great players?

Wright? No
Kristic? He should be producing like he did before his injury.
Marcus? Don't like his attitude, and he seems to shoot too much for someone who can't.

Kidd to Portland would make so much sense.

His experience and distribution skills would do wonders with that young team.

They should have enough pieces to make a move w/o giving up Roy and Oden (and maybe even Aldridge).

but the lakers have crap to offer.

I seriously doubt Portland would be willing to give up what it would take to get Kidd, nor do I think they want him any way. They are one of the youngest teams in the league and are already a playoff team. A team like the Heat or Cavs would be prime targets. Maybe Orlando, the Clippers, or even the Mavs would be up there as interested as well.

Also, the Lakers have more to offer then the cavs or Heat do. Farmar, Critt, Kwame (large expiring), Walton, Ariza, and Odom could all be trade pieces. I guess it all depends on where his value is really at.

If you move him on draft day, you are going to get stuck with some bad contracts in return. If you want to deal him and get some cap relief, you need to make the deal before the Trade Deadline this year.

I agree that doing nothing is a better option that doing something that saddles you with a long contract (like VladRad). But you definitely ought to consider trading Kidd to Orlando for expirings and a 1st round pick. You get some cap relief a year earlier, and you get a pick. It's better than nothing.

I think you're right that they won't make a move for him, and I also agree that he might not want to go there. But if they had the nads to make this move I think it would be brilliant for the development of their youngs. Roy wouldn't have to carry all the burden of having the ball in his hands all the time, and Aldridge and Oden would get great looks and hasten their development.

Not only that, but with Kidd they'd be a legitimate contender to make it 2-3 rounds into the playoffs for the next couple of years.

Plus, they don't need any more youth, so their draft picks for the next couple of years aren't as valuable as they have been.

I don't wanna make a move until we get rid of Carter. We get stuck with two gaurds without a point gaurd and then we seem even more desperate.
