Had Vince remained injury-free, and, had he retained the passion he once had, I honestly believe he would be mentioned in the same breath as Kobe. Given his injuries, I don't think he's as amazing as he once was, but, once again, I'd rather have him over Pierce, given Vince finds a desire to play. I think losing can get to him-- . It's sort of like his mentality just becomes. . . Hey, I've been trying my hardest and we're losing, now I'll just do an adequate job until I'm moved, or until something changes.

Vince is damn near unstoppable if he tries. If the Raptors got him without giving up their core, I doubt that we don't win it all.

That's the problem though, we all know and he knows he has all the talent in the world, he just doesn't care enough to want to use it.

As long as he's getting paid, he's happy. He doesn't care about winning, and that's why he'll never be mentioned along the same lines as Kobe.

Carter is a bum, amazing talent, no heart.

He's played pretty damn well every time he's been on a winning team. You really think he wouldn't do wonders in, say. . . Golden State, or Portland?

But that's not what superstars are all about. He shouldn't need a good team to play well, he should play well to make a team good.

If traded, Carter will go on a tear just like he did when he was first traded to the Nets, but give it a few weeks he'll resort right back to his lackadaisical style of playing.

'Cause after a few weeks, the Nets began losing. I'm not encouraging what he does, or excusing it. However, you must admit, fighting losing-battles isn't exactly the "funnest" or most amazing feeling in the world. However, the feeling that comes with winning is empowering and contagious.

Everyone croons about Garnett's intensity, but, if you'd actually seen his last few seasons in Minny, you'd know otherwise. It happens to everyone, some quicker than others. Kobe Bryant, more passionate than 95% of the league was struck with the same "syndrome"; the Lakers suck. It's happening with Kidd too. As Toronto fans, we just amplify our experience with Carter. Iverson can also be added to the aforementioned list.

Carter hasn't been doing anything less than what he was doing last year; all of his stats are almost identical to last year's with the exception of PPG. He's getting less touches/game, attributing for the preceding.

After a few weeks the Nets began losing? Shouldn't that say something about the type of player Carter is, he kills teams because of the way he plays most of the time.

He is a lazy and disinterested player and I think it's really unfair that you are trying to compare the way he gave up on Toronto to the way KG, Kobe, Iverson and Kidd have asked for trades.

The players you listed are some to the greatest players to ever play the game, a list Carter could of had his name on if he had even a little bit of heart.

KG, League MVP
Kidd, Took his team to the finals twice
Iverson, League MVP, Took his team to the finals
Kobe, Won three championships

What has Carter ever done to be considered a great player?

The first point you made about him plaguing an entire team is ridiculous. Carter was still putting up 40 point efforts on losing nights (with NJ). I dare you to name a single time when he didn't play his hardest prior to Toronto inheriting it's losing ways.

Moreover, I did state, if you'd read properly, that such happens to everyone, BUT, to some quicker than others. Carter is one of the "quicker" cases. Also, that little list of accomplishments you have at the end means very little. There was a time when Toronto fans would go to war with anyone who'd said Kobe was better than Carter, 'cause Carter used to own EVERYONE. Carter, in the 4th quarter, would/could leave everyone breathless. Imagine he'd made that shot in Philly-- Everything would be different. In fact, his lackluster performance could be attributed to fans with their "what have you done for me attitude?"; the whole city turned on him when he missed that shot. After that, he got injured and the Raptors kept losing-- A snowball effect.

I could elaborate, and elaborate, but that would change nothing, so I'll stop here.

Anyone interested in a comparison of Dallas from last year and Boston from this year. Dallas had the best record in the league and folded in the first round of the playoffs. Boston is probably going to finish with the best record in the NBA this year. Garnett hasn't had any real success in the playoffs, and either have Allen and Pierce. Well, Allen and Pierce went to the eastern conference finals once apiece but that doesn't make the Celts a lock this year.
Phoenix had the best record the year before and didn't make the finals, correct?

I always maintained Kobe was still the better player than Lebron. But Lebron outduelled him today. Maybe we saw the torch being passed in front of our eyes.

Here's my theory:

If you take enough stupid, low percentage shots throughout the course of the game, when it comes time to take the game winner you have the muscle memory to take a fadeaway 3.

SVG actually alluded to that in his postgame quotes.
