Great Moon article from an Alabama paper

Post#1 » by yucatan87 » Mon Jan 28, 2008 7:30 pm

Didn't see this posted in any of the Daily Papers threads.

Belyeu spotted Moon at middle school in Goodwater when "he was 6-3 and could dunk the ball." Moon started his 9th-grade season at Coosa Central on the junior varsity team, Belyeu said, "but I couldn't keep him down."

Moon made the leap to starter and then to star. Belyeu still remembers two of Moon's dunks. Against Dadeville, the coach swears, he took off from the free-throw line, jumped over a defender and flushed it.

Against LaFayette, on the final play of a game already won, the coach's son tossed a lob to the top of the square on the backboard, a foot above the rim. Moon snatched it with one hand and slammed it.

"Michael Jordan ain't got nothing on him as far as dunks," Belyeu said. "He loves the highlights."

"He used to ride his basketball around in the car," his mom said. "Somebody stole the car. He said he missed the ball more than he did the car."

True story, Moon said: "It was my ball."

They could take his ball and his car. They could cut him, refuse to pay him, refuse to play him or even give him a chance.

They couldn't steal his dream.

another thing about jamario... he is like the only player in the dunk off motivated by the money(i would think)... he didnt sign a rookie deal, or a max like dwight hes getting like 450G a year. Ye thats alot but compared to what his past was like he prob spent like 250 on a house for his parents or something.. so that extra 20G or w/e it is would be extra motivation for him...

hopefully he produces.

The thing I like about Jamario is that he is coming into the dunk contest with a plan. He wants to win, and he's making stuff up himself (with some help from Triano). He's treating the contest with respect. Same thing with Dwight last year.

Dwight's sky high power sticker dunk was awesome and really jokes.

Nike needs to sign him so we can all cop a pair of Moon's someday. I'm sure they can come up with some brilliant marketing :P

It's been a dream deferred but not denied.

"I'm just a country boy," he said. "A country boy with a dream."

awwww....it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Great great article, I never really get happy for strangers that I dont know but this cat definitely deserves it. His attitude is so refreshing as he never gets down about anything, I wish I was like that. Im the type of person that will curse to high heaven when **** dont go my way. KEep it up Jamario and we're all pulling for you in NO, buck a Charles Barkley.
