Wow. okay. idea.

Bring Kobe off the bench. i said it. maybe experiment with the idea in the knicks game.

why?
1) he can play the whole first half if he doesn't come in til 6-7 minutes left in the first
2) other Lakers can get hot and he can come in to facilitate
3) Kobe can watch for the first 5-6 minutes and evaluate what his role will be for the game.
4) he will still play the same amount of minutes
5) if we start losing immediately sub him right in; if we are winning, it will be that much better when kobe comes in
6) this would only be for our time without Bynum
7) can put Farmar in to start and our bench will be even better; it will have kobe; ever seen a bench score 81 points?

starting:

Farmar
Fisher
Walton (ariza if he were healthy)
Odom
Kwame

Horrible idea? yes. but... Kobe and Fisher are out two players who will deliver regardless of the atmosphere and can go all game without shooting and still peform. Our bench is young and needs to get looks to get going.

If we can get some of them confidence in the first quarter; maybe we'll have a better chance throughout the game than bringing them in and asking them to deliver. Kobe can come in and rack up assists; or conversely score if necessary. Kinda like what TMac is doing in Houston right now (granted they have Yao.)

Obvious rebuttal: Kobe is the best player in the league why bring him off the bench. yeah I know..that's a very good point and I agree.

Unfortuately our team has shown it cant create without kobe. Most years it might be worth a try but we need all the wins we can muster.

I read ...bring kobe off the bench and I stopped reading....

In yesterdays game...they couldnt get into any rythum or score when kobe was out.....

they would be down by 10 from the start and then you have to play the catch game ...the rest of the way

Problem is Kobe is our best pg even though he is a sg. Fisher is not a real pg but a shooter at 6'2 so he can play pg in the triangle. Now Farmar might be able to facailate but whenever I see him all I see is him shooting 3's.
By the way the idea is absolutely redicoulus in every single way but I won't get into that because it's obvious.
What is it with LA and bringing superior players off the bench? Phil wanted to bring Bynum off the bench before the injury and now you and Phil brings Farmar off the bench and Farmar who is our best 3 point shooter wasn't out there as an option when they needed a 3 in the last seconds of the game.

i admit it was a desperate idea I thought was creative. I shoul've tried to sneak it in a thread instead of creating a new one.

Really bad idea, Kobe gets no credit--he only takes 6 shts in 1st half yesterday vs. cle and their dwn by 9 he starts going to the line and shooting more at they are right in the game....

For me it's who they are playing right now, I didn't think they would beat Cle w/ out Bynum yesterday. For me it's the Lakers don't have a second opt to score what so ever when Andrew is out. Fish gets hot some games and Farmar too but if they don't go off big they have no chance beating playoff teams. Odom and Luke's game along w/ Fish, Ariza are so dependent on Kobe and Bynum it isn't funny. They get more space to move when other teams have to focus on those guys so much but when it's just Kobe to worry about they get less space thus don't do as well.

It's simply the makeup of talent on this team-- you give odom, Walton, Kwame Fish and say Sasha a stint for a full Quartar against a good teams top lineup they would be dwn 15 or more plain and simple. Just as what happened yesterday, when Kobe went out in first while Lebron was sitting they got torched.... then late in game I like Phil's move to sit Kobe for a while--he was dead tired trying to will his team but they lost 4 or 5 pts just in those two positons.

By the time Kobe comes in we may be so far behind that even his heroics may not be enough.

I appreciate the attempts to improve our team, but let's not be so drastic. It's a 3 game losing streak. It's not the end of the world. When healthy, we'll be fine. Even if we're the 8th seed, I don't think anyone would want to play us in the playoffs when healthy.

i admit it was way too drastic. just trying to figure out how to get blood out of a rock. Just thought we could try to give our players some confidence. I hate watching our team suck. which it does right now.

why wouldn't you want kobe to get hot as early as possible while risking to get off to a 0-8 start in a league where you can get beaten by every team?

Kareem, Magic, Jordan, Bird, Wilt, Kobe, etc. The list goes on and on... These folks don't come off the bench. No matter how terrific the idea is. End of discussion, period.
