Any Interest in Kidd

Post#1 » by Philly Family » Mon Jan 28, 2008 10:31 pm

Would we have any interest in Kidd. I posted a 3 way deal where we move Miller and Evans, but do we think that we could get in on a 3 way deal with Kidd and Miller going to NJ....

Not really a good fit, considering his $$$$.

Although, Miller+Green+Evans+Carney make about as much as Kidd.

I say pass.

Kidd does nothing for this teams rebuild plan (other than set it back a few more years). He currently plays with more talent in NJ and they suck. How much better would he really make this team? Pass.

I had Kidd to Lakers with Boone and Evans....Miller and Odom to Nets ....Brown and Crittenton to Sixers....Think we need a pick or two but Ithink it help with cap space and a young pt...Lakers get Kid and Nets get Miller to run the show for a year and then expire and Odom to play along with Jefferson....Possible thoughts.....

I'd take Critt and Brown for Miller and Evans.

About $14M more off the cap and a young PG with size to pair with LW.

Nice.

The Question would be...would the Nets take Miller and Odom for Kidd...This wouls free up another 9 Million in cap space to bring in another free agent....

I would have interest in Kidd but he wouldn't have interest in us.

I dont want to see kid on our team bc getting him would mean the trading of our young players. This would mess up the nice young core we are trying to build with. Kidd is a great player that on any given night can get you a triple double but he is not right for Philly. Anywhey he wants traded to a contender thats why he wants out of nj. Any Philly is far from contending.

Kidd wants to play for a ring while he still can - there's no way that he's coming here. But with Thorn talking about "complicated" trade scenarios being discussed, it wouldn't surprise me if the Sixers were part of a 3-way trade involving Kidd, given Stefanski's ties to the Nets.

If the Nets deal Kidd... I imagine that squashes any chance of Thorn dealing Marcus Williams.

Now that Kidd has come out and confirmed his trade demand... it seems extremely likely that the Nets will deal him before Feb 21st. Since the Nets just re-signed Carter and they already have Jefferson, I imagine the team would prefer to revamp with some veterans then try to do what the Sixers are doing and build from ground zero.

So with that being said, I do think the Nets would have some interest in obtaining Miller and Odom for Kidd. Obviously Kidd to the Lakers makes sense and Miller and Odom probably make the Nets a better overall team... but I question whether Brown and Crittenton really is what I want for Miller.

Who would you rather have: Crittenton or Marcus Williams???

Change the deal alittle by sending Carney and Booth to the Nets for Kristic and its a deal.
Andre Miller is a bad 3pt shooter.

Crittenton. Besides, Brown's expiring will come in handy next season.

I've heard Stefanski say that ditching players just for cap space can backfire it you are unable to sign a FA that makes the team better than it was previously. I agree with this and so that's why I'm skeptical about trading for Brown and Crittenton.

If the Sixers somehow can get involved in this, and get Crittenton back, I'd be on board. Kristic isn't coming back in return. I can't see NJ completely selling out moving forward into their new arena, so moving Kidd for Odom and Miller does kind of make sense, but I could also see them getting Odom and Crittenton for themselves.

**posted a trade that works on the trade thread...not sure the Lakers would do it, but you can make the $$'s match up.

The Nets trading for Odom and Crittenton doesn't make much sense since they do have Marcus Williams. Also, If the Nets got Miller and Odom... they would have a veteran lineup of...

Miller
Carter
Jefferson
Odom
Kristic

That's not bad. Miller has one year left on his deal which should give the Nets enough time to see if Marcus if ready to take over for this team. Again though... I'm just not sure that I like it for the Sixers since I'm not sold on Crit. Then again, we would have more space and could make a run at Calderon.

I heard that the triangle offense the Lakers run don't really need a superstar PG but a PG that understands the offense, which could take years. That's why Fisher is a important player for the Lakers and Kidd might not be as important for the Lakers as many feel.

I don't know where Kidd would possibly go. Dallas, maybe? Houston can probably put together a package involving McGrady but that's it.

Oh, and definitely not the Sixers. Kidd will probably veto that deal.
Two years from being two years away.
