DAL/SAC/NOH

Post#1 » by Teddy KGB » Tue Jan 29, 2008 12:39 pm

As Mavs fans would you do the following deal? I would personally but I want to see if this is popular among the rest of us.

Sacramento Kings

Incoming Players

Devin Harris
Salary: $3,995,003 Years Remaining: 6
PTS: 14.4 REB: 2.3 AST: 5.3 PER: 18.65

Maurice Ager
Salary: $974,400 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 1.7 REB: 0.4 AST: 0.3 PER: 0.25

Bobby Jackson
Salary: $5,670,000 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 7.1 REB: 2.4 AST: 1.7 PER: 13.19

Bernard Robinson
Salary: $1,080,000 Years Remaining: 1

08 1st DAL

Outgoing Players: Francisco Garcia, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Ron Artest

[Separate trade: Gooden and Newble to SAC for Bibby]

Sacto sets their backcourt for the future with Kevin Martin and Devin Harris. Along with a nice pick this year, Hawes etc, they will have a very bright future. Obviously this would signal the start of rebuilding and they would trade Miller and Bibby after this as well. In fact, I think they should do Bibby for Gooden and Newble right after this deal. They have to give up Garcia to dump Abdur-Rahim and get a 1st as well for him. They also get 3 short contracts which will make them FA players in the near future.

B Miller/S Hawes
D Gooden/M Moore
J Salmons
K Martin/M Ager
D Harris/B Udrih

Dallas Mavericks

Incoming Players

Francisco Garcia
Salary: $1,168,800 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 13.3 REB: 3.7 AST: 1.7 PER: 15.25

Shareef Abdur-Rahim
Salary: $5,800,000 Years Remaining: 3
PTS: 1.7 REB: 1.7 AST: 0.7 PER: 5.68

Ron Artest
Salary: $7,400,000 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 17.7 REB: 5.6 AST: 4.1 PER: 16.79

Outgoing Players: Devin Harris, Maurice Ager, Jerry Stackhouse, 08 1st DAL

We get the tough guy we need in Artest who can post up and lock down opposing swing men, as well as bigger PGs such as Baron. We also get a nice young player in Garcia who I like for his versatility. The talent we would be left with would definitely be championship caliber. Of course, as we give up Harris we would only do this if Artest signed an extension before the trade, i.e. 5 years 40M so that we don't trade Harris for Artest to bolt to NYK. The squad we are left with has plenty of everything IMO and would beat Boston or SA in a 7 game series IMO. The cost of this talent upgrade is giving up Harris but also taking on 'Reef's waste of space contract. Sucks to give up Stack but doesn't work out capwise otherwise.

E Dampier/D Diop
D Nowitzki/B Bass
R Artest/T Hassell
J Howard/E Jones
J Terry/F Garcia

New Orleans Hornets

Incoming Players

Jerry Stackhouse
Salary: $6,750,000 Years Remaining: 3
PTS: 9.9 REB: 2.5 AST: 2.5 PER: 12.68

Outgoing Players: Bobby Jackson, Bernard Robinson

With NOH, depth has long been a major issue and with this deal they trade two sucky guys for one who can definitely still ball.

T Chandler/H Armstrong
D West/J Wright
P Stojakovic/R Butler
M Peterson/J Stackhouse
C Paul/J Pargo

umm, i don't mind that at all. we never use a conventional set up pure PG anyways, and Harris isn't one. So what if terry starts?

I am of the opinion that Terry and Harris need to be separated. I prefer to keep Harris. But I think ss and his trading acumen might convince me to do this. Then, I see how Terry got lit up last night, and realize that the Defense begins at the 1, and .............

I will be in circles about a deal like this. I guess in my feeble mind that makes it a good deal. arent the fairest deals where no one is completely happy?

yeah lol terry will get lit up, but we seriously can't complain about losing defense in a trade where Ron Artest is coming to Dallas. I mean, come on! It's Ron freaking Artest!

Not at all interested. Harris has star potential as a PG and I'm not willing to give that away.

Artest interests me only if he is super cheap, or free, talent wise. The risk on him is substantial, and the reward isn't great any longer.

I used to like the Artest idea. Not anymore though. If you saw his latest outburst you'd know that he is still insane. He tries to bring attention to himself even if it hurts his team. That's not the kind of guy I want to be a Mav.

Not a bad trade... But New Orleans wont be trading anyone for a while, with the way theyre playing, and a 3 team trade happening in the same conference? Highly unlikely.

If the Kidd deal goes down, then what about possibly making the deal simpler

Possibly Artest for Harris, Hassell, Cash (to buy out hassell)

Making Dallas a favorite with a team of

PG Kidd/J Barea
SG Howard/E Jones
SF Artest/T Hassell
PF Dirk/B Bass
C Dampier/(Coming from Kidd Trade)

Give your team one more summer, to pick up a few good bench players, and the 09 ring is yours. Kidd/Artest/Damp would create the best defensive team in the league, with the Best 1 on 1 defender in Artest, and a top 3 PG defender in Kidd, add in Damp/Howard/Dirk?. With Howard/Artest/Dirk all likely to average over 20 points each, the team looks solid with no flaws given that the team is trying to win now.
