We will be in a much better position to be a thrid team facilitating such a trade after the season when we are under the cap. Right now, the best we can offer is that Miller's contract expires next year.

Interest in Kidd? Not really, mainly because he'd have no interest in us. Interest in being a 3rd wheel in a deal with NJ? Absolutely. I could see them having interest in Andre Miller.

dabods:

Nice thought there...I like the idea of a 3-way trade...just having a tough time figuring out what we would want from the teams that might have interest in JKidd...nothing from the Cavs...probably nothing from the Mavs...

Does anyone else find it interesting that the Nuggets are interested in Kidd?? Sure they need a PG but in order for them to get Kidd they'd have to part with some combination of the following:

1. Carmelo: Ain't happenin'

2. Kenyon Martin: I doubt Thorn takes back that contract and knee

3. Nene: A big contract with bigger health issues. I doubt Thorn wants him.

4. Camby: Possible but he doesn't make enough for a straight up deal and I doubt that Camby + filler is enough to get Kidd.

5. Iverson: Would the Nuggets look to deal him for Kidd? Would the Nets want him and play him at PG next to Carter and Jefferson??

That's the case with all the teams rumored to be interested in Kidd.

What do the Mavs have to give up that would even come close to matching salaries? Exclude Dirk and Howard of course since they would never include them. That leaves Dampier (3 yrs @ about 12 mil per yr), Terry (4 yrs at about 10+ mil per) and Stackhouse (2 yrs at over 7 mil per). No way the Nets would want any of those 3 guys at those salaries. How can they even be in the discusion? No one else would want those guys as part of a 3 way deal either.

What do the Cavs have to matchup? Hughes at over 13 mil per? Snow, Gooden and Marshall at close to 7 mil for each? No chance NJ wants any of that trash.

Kidd is highly unlikely to be moved since the teams that would really want him have virtually no tradeable assets.

I believe the Lakers have the assets to get a deal done but this could be a repeat of last year in which Thorn demands Bynum and the Lakers pass.

Besides the Lakers, Nuggets, and Mavs... I could see Houston getting involved for Kidd with them sending McGrady out to a third team.

I don't see the Lakers having the assets. With Bynum out, they can't afford to deal Kwame's expiring. I really don't see them giving up both Kwame and Odom as they would have no good big men left (no, I don't consider Kwame good, but they have limited C options right now). Also, Farmar is really playing well so PG isn't exactly a big need for LA. If anything they need to improve at SF/PF.

As for Houston, it's really hard to get 2 way, let alone 3 or 4 way, deals done (especially ones that includes superstars), so the odds of something like what you mentioned are very low.

Maybe Miami could work something since they have the expiring, but is that all NJ would be willing to take back? Also, I doubt NJ would want to deal him in the conference.

I can't see Miami making a move for Kidd considering how bad they are this year. Also, I'm positive NJ wants more than expirings for Kidd and Miami can't trade a first round pick until at least 2010 and more likely 2011.

I agree that working a 3 way deal mid-season it's unlilkely which is why Kidd may not be moved until the summer.

76ers trade:
PG Andre Miller

76ers recieve:
PF-C Kwame Brown
PG Javaris Crittenton
PG/SF Sun Yue

New Jersey Nets trade:
PG Jason Kidd
SF Bostjan Nachbar
PF Malik Allen

New Jersey Nets recieve:
PG Andre Miller
SF/PF Lamar Odom
SF/PF Vladmir Radmonvich

Los Angeles Lakers trade:
SF/PF Lamar Odom
SF/PF Vladmir Radmonvich
PG/SF Sun Yue
PG Javaris Crittenton
PF/C Kwame Brown

Los Angeles Lakers recieve:
PG Jason Kidd
SF Bostjan Nachbar
PF Malik Allen

Reasons for 76ers: Andre Miller was holding back the rebuliding process with his "leadership" and not allowing Louis Williams extensive minutes on the floor. By acquiring Javaris Crittenton it works like this: If one of Williams/Crittenton
succeeds, great. If BOTH succeed, so much the better. We're not winning the NBA title, there's no reason to keep a 31 year old PG. Besides that, we get nearly an additional 10 million to spend, raising our money to 20 million. The possibility of being able to sign both Okafor/Smith, or Okafor/Agent Zer0(or any other combo) is very good indeed. We acquired Youth (Yue, Crittenton), we acquired expirings (Kwame), we moved forward. That's what Ed Stefanski is looking for(I hope)

Reasons for the Nets: Jason Kidd has demanded a trade, and anytime a player demands a trade. It's hard to get equal value in return. This is Rod Thorn's wetdream. Andre Miller's just as every bit as good as Kidd averaging 16 PPG/6 Assists(keep in mind he was playing near the worst 2 and 4 guard in possibly NBA history). Besides that, he gets another facitilator in Lamar Odom.(He hasn't shown it because KB24 has decided to take over that role.) The Nets weakness was the lack of a bench, or a lack of shooting. Odom and Radmonvich can light up the 3. In short, the Nets not only recieved equal value for Jason Kidd but improved their roster. They needed to be a better 3pt shooting team and better chemistry. They got both.

Reasons for the Lakers: To further save Mitch Kupcake's job ROFL, okay on the serious side of things Jason Kidd is a HALL OF FAME PG. Kupcake made the right decision not to trade Bynum but he sure as hell will pull the trigger on this. The Lakers are playing a 2 PG system with Fisher and Crittenton, that system improves with 2 veteran point guards, allowing Kobe Bryant to be, well, kobe Bryant. Boston Nachbar will be able to kind of replace Vladmir Radmonvich.

New Jersey Nets S5:
C:Nenad Kristic
PF:Lamar Odom
SF:Richard Jefferson
SG:Vince Carter
PG:Andre Miller

Los Angeles Lakers S5:
C:Andrew Bynum/Malik Allen
PF:Ronny Turief/Malik Allen
SF:Kobe Bryant
SG:Derek Fisher
PG:Jason Kidd

Philadelphia 76ers S5:
C: Samuel Dalembert
PF:Kwame Brown/Reggie Evans
SF:Thaddeus Young/Iggy
SG:Iggy/LWill/Crittenton
PG:Crittenton/LWill

(The slashes are for possible combos. I suspect Mo Cheeks will never let go of Reggie Evans, and I want Iggy and Young to split the time at forward. The Lakers cannot start Ronny 40 mins a night due to his heart issues, and the current injury to Bynum. That's why Allen will be the key factor in this deal for the Lakers. It's what seals the deal.)

Great info from all...That is why I think that Miller would be a key interest for Nets...he expires in one more year and would allow Marcus William to learn more but would also keep Nets in the hunt with a vetern team...As far as getting Brown and Crittenton back the expiring deal is key and a young point guard who also played with Thad would be great....
