Stein Chat

Post#1 » by ddb » Tue Jan 29, 2008 4:08 pm

Mark Stein on his latest chat said it's not out of the question that Boston could end up with both Damon and Cassell when it's all said and done...

Marc Stein: Serious. He legitimately likes the idea of going back to Toronto, even though I have yet to hear anything that suggest that Boston is going to lose Damon. Cassell isn't even available yet. And if he does become available, who's to say Boston won't wind up with both guys at the minimum? If Cassell ends up leaving the Clips via buyout as opposed to trade, he is going to find it HARD to say no to KG's lobbying. They're tight to this day.

Its up to ownership. They have to shell out double for everything. My man Rondo better still get 30 mins a game or i'm going to be heated. Having cassell would be unreal. There would be no reason why we shouldnt take it all this year.

i like rondo, but he's getting a minimum of 30 minutes every game, that's ONE reason we may not win it all this year.

i REALLY like Rondo. He should continue to start, but ideally we need a guy like Sam Cassell who can close games for us.

Damon would help us, but Sam Cassell would put us over the top. I would much rather have Cassell. It might be worth holding off on Damon UNLESS we can get both, like Stein said in his chat.

If it's for a quality player that can legitimately help us get to the 'ship, they'll pay. So far, these owners have been doing just about everything right to get this franchise back on track.

Rondo plays on both ends of the court. He is a pesky defender that wreaks havoc all over the court.

You think you are going to get that out of Sam Cassell? Rondo is nasty and he improves our chances of getting a chip. He has played great this year.

Imagine if we had Sebastian or another young guard instead then it would be a problem. Have you noticed how bad we are when Rondo goes to the bench? During the magic game after he sprained his ankle they went on a HUGE run. Just one example of his importance to our team. We cant have a bunch of old farts on the team. Cassell can close out games or whatever yes but he wont be making the key steals like Rondo does down the stretch. We need someone to bring the ball up with the second unit that keeps things running fluidly like a pg is suppose to. Believe me Rondo is not the problem.

Rondo is a problem in the sense the Celtics need him to play his ability level every night.

He is good enough, but not consistent enough. That makes the lack of another PG even more apparent off the bench. House, Ray Allen, Tony Allen and Gabe Pruitt are busts in the role as secondary ball handlers. They are all too limited.

That said, I would be in favor of Damon now, and if he is bought out, Casell also. CAsell can play the 1 and 2. Damon is better than House. All Damon would do is move House to more of a 15 minute guy which is what he is supposed to be.

Having Damon and Cassell would really take the pressure of rondo.

I doubt this scenario plays out. If u sign Damon then later sign Cassell one of the 3 pg's won't be getting any playing time

again, i love Rondo..

you can win a championship with him playing a prominent role.

If we bring in Cassell our rotation will look like this:

Rondo, Allen, Pierce, KG, Perk

Cassell, House, Allen, Posey, Powe/Davis/Pollard

We'd also be able to play Cassell and Rondo together when we want to go small. Cassell, Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Garnett would be outstanding.

Bringing Mighty-Mouse helps out team...Just not to the extent of bringing in Cassell.

Using both roster spots on PG's would be a mistake. Just like we need Rondo injury insurance, we also could use some Perk injury insurance. We are not winning a championship with Davis, Powe or Pollard as our starting center. JMHO.
