If Rip Hamilton can wear a face mask whenever he plays because of the risk of permanent damage to his sinus cavity, it ought to be possible to design a simple, lightweight guard for the top of Ford's spine.

In football neck strengthening is very important too. Maybe he's taking this time to try to build his neck up to a certain level? Perhaps that would explain the time it's taking for him to come back.
Same thing for wrestling. When I was in high school, I'd share the weight room with some guys on the wrestling team and the type of stuff they did would put me in traction for a week. They'd spend 30 minutes on bridging drills just to get warmed up.

I haven't forgotten. He was absolutely tearing the Hawks apart.
Strange coincidence that Garbo was hurt last year after his dominating performance against the Nuggets.
Anyway, and OT, I've been struggling with learning to snow-board at an advanced age. When I fall backward, I put my arms out to cushion the fall, and at the end of the day my shoulder joints are killing me. Maybe I should take some judo to learn how to fall. Any other suggestions?

Yeah, some of the people around here just make me shake my head sometimes. I read similar things like a couple weeks ago and just tried to avoid threads about TJ entirely.
Good to hear he's been doing really well, hopefully he'll come back, get some minutes, and be ready for the run up to the playoffs.

Traditional jui-jitsu for me and I can fall like a newborn, especially when I'm drunk...
The other thing about the learning to fall is the psychological impact. On your way down your looser, even if you don't execute the break fall correctly, your not going to get hurt like if you tensed up.

The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.
The bad thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

that's obviously a fake write up and there is no such condition as spinal stenosis, just an excuse by TJ to take a vacation. Just look at the name "hughston.com" isn't that where TJ is vacationing...Coincidence, I think not. Next time try a little harder, MeJ Fraud
Can you imagine if JP Ricciardi was the GM of the Raps? He'd have been calling out TJ after a week or two.

John Lucas w/ some high praise for T.J. Ford. I agree w/ him, I feel like when T.J. is in a "zone" so to speak, he is virtually unstoppable. I wonder when he will return...Lucas says "very shortly", is that like after the all-star break or before it? Anyways, great to hear that he is doing good. BTW, isn't Andrea Bargnani going to Houston to work w/ John Lucas during the off-season? So that would mean T.J. Ford and Bargnani would be working together. Heck, since Bosh has had poor conditioning at the beginning of season(s), he should go to Lucas as well.

Paul Kariya used to have a major problem with recurring concussions. He spent a summer strengthening his neck and was fine. This will only help Ford.
It was very weird to read this, as I was thinking the exact same thing. I actually remembered some footage of Paul Kariya working on one of those large yoga balls and trying to strengthen his neck and stomach.
