Since when is Allstar game about stats? Its about who is having a deserving season, Hedo has hit numerous clutch shots, is second in the league in 4th quarter scoring, and that rainbow 3 over Pierce should get him some type of nod. I would still have Pierce in though, I cant see why they both dont deserve to be in.

Exactly. The fact is, Hedo has been amazing this season, whereas Pierce is just doing the same stuff he's always done.
If him and Pierce could both get in, that would be much better, but still, you could make an argument for Hedo.
And really, there's no way Ray Allen makes it over Hedo. I don't care what his team's record is.

But that ignores the fact that Hedo, as amazing as he has been, has not been as good as Pierce who is doing the same stuff he's always done. This game is about who deserves it the most based on individual statistics and team play. Pierce has better stats and is on a better team. I'm not saying A) Hedo hasn't been playing very well this season or B) that the Magic aren't a very good team. I'm simply saying that you can't just go by improvement. There are other, much more important factors.

That's all well and good, but there are lots of players on lots of teams who are just too good not to make the All-Star team who will not make the All-Star team because they could not be accommodated.
Josh Howard, Gerald Wallace, Josh Smith, Marcus Camby/Carlos Boozer, Al Jefferson, Richard Jefferson, Deron Williams, Manu Ginobili, heck, maybe even Brandon Roy.
All supremely talented players putting up great numbers and are all All-Star worthy. But there aren't 20 spots for each team.

If we are talking about 2 of these three getting in (Hedo, Jamsion, and PP) I'd go with Jamison and PP.
Here is a blurb from the Daily Dime:
Here is a blurb from the Daily Dime:
Melody (LA): Hedo Turkoglu has to be an all-star, even if it means Jamison gets left out! If any team besides boston deserves two all-stars, isn't Orlando the easy pick? A la - better record???
John Hollinger: If you look back at every lame All-Star pick from the past decade, it was when coaches went for the second-best player on a team with a winning record to "reward" them for their start (Woo-hoo. I'm sure the coaching staff and the other 11 players were thrilled). Then we look back a year later and go "wait, Mehmet Okur made the All-Star team?" Turkoglu had a nice year so far, but he hasn't been one of the 12 best in the East.

calderon and hedo deserves to be in the all star game.
Caldy's efficiency is amazing.
Just watch any one game and he he impresses, I have so much confidence in his shot. His assist to turn over rate is unbeleivable.
40% for 3
50% for 2
90% + from free throw line
Best assist to TO ratio
Playing for a winning team
tell me how you can leave him out.

I think Calderon deserves it, I dont think Hedo does. I think hedo is having a great year, but I just dont see him having an all star year over 12 other guys.

And that negates all the good he brings? Just ignore the great percentages and the A/T.O ratio. If he'd started from the beginning of the season, he would be near 15 point per right now. And his defense is getting blown way out of proportion, he's a slightly below average defender.
And shows how much you know, Richard Jefferson, no way the Nets get two all-stars in the game with the atrocious season they've had so far.
If it's Calderon vs Jefferson, I like Calderon's chances, Sadly though I think a guy like Ray Allen will come in and steal that spot, even though he's scoring 18 points on 42% shooting and has been sub par this season. That's what name power and the best record in the NBA will do for you.

Rip Hamilton
47% for 3 (career high)
50% for 2 (career high)
82% from free throw line
plays for the second best team in the NBA
19.0 pts 3.4 rebs 4.4 asts 1.0 stl (while being defended by the opposing teams best denfeder)
Plus, Rip plays defense. He won't lax off his man so he can keep his turnover numbers down. Raptor fans have even admitted that Calderon won't play on his man as much if it will ruin his ast/to ratio.
I'm sure I could make cases for Michael Redd and Joe Johnson as well.
Calderon is a good player, but he's not an all-star.

Rip is definitely all-star worthy. No way him or Billups should be left out of the game.
But Joe Johnson? Dude's shooting 40% and has been terrible as of recent. Michael Redd has the stats, but I don't think he should be going with the way the Bucks have been.
I'd personally go with Calderon over either of those 2.
