Just look at what Kidd has done to athletic power forwards in the past.
Turiaf would easily average 12-14 points a game starting alongside Kidd (He's been averaging over 10 points and 2 blocks a game in about 23 minutes since Bynum went down).
Kidd needs finishers and Turiaf moves well, even better than Odom, without the ball.
Not only Turiaf, but Kidd would make everybody's life, including Kobe's, easier. Kobe never had the luxury of playing next to somebody who could create some shots for him, get him some easy baskets on a consistent basis.
This would also allow Kobe to play on the wing and on the block, to play behind the defenses instead of always attacking from the three point line and trying to break defenses down.
That's where Kobe's been at his most efficient, and I do believe he's never had the luxury of being allowed to do what he does best - score. Sure, there's been stretches when he's been asked to play that role, but never on a consistent, always aggressive mode. Our team needs requires our best scorer to be our passer, unfortunately. Primary playmaking duties has always forced him to juggle roles.
Kidd would freshen Kobe's legs and his career, no doubt.
Bynum would also get double the easy opportunities. Kobe's a good passer, but Kidd is brilliant.
We know Kidd wanted and expected to be in a Lakers uniform last year before the trade deadline. We know he badly wants to play next to Kobe. If Kidd wants to go to Dallas, it's only because the Lakers won't deal what the Nets want.
I think there's no way this deal goes through without Farmar. The Nets can't exactly rebuild from scratch either. Vince and RJ have big and long contracts. Java would be a huge risk to them, even if Marcus Williams has shown some promise. Farmar is the key to any deal for Kidd, if I were in Thorn's shoes. No way I'm giving up Kidd without getting Farmar.
