Why is Carlos Delfino so inconsistent?
Carlos Delfino is the definition of streaky shooter. All you need to look is at his game log.

In January he has had 4 scoreless games along with 4 games of 15 plus.
I think a good strategy would be to run a play for Delfino when he first comes off the bench to get his confidence up, otherwise it's going to be a long night.

There's a reason he only fetched 2 2nd rounders. Guys like him are a dime a dozen this league: Semi-athletic wing players with above average defense with inconsistent offensive games. Every team has like 1 of him.
It's dishonest to expect consistent offensive showings from a guy like Delfino this far into his career.

Word, thats why we need TJ back, he is the perfect complement for our team structure full of shooters. He is able to easily drive and kick it to the open man. Whereas Calderon is the king of pick and rolls which he does so effectively with Bosh.
Regarding Delfino, we had to find someone to fill in the void left by Morris Peterson.

look at his stats, he's not a good shooter. Seriously take a look at his year to year stats, and year to year shooting percentage. He's an extremely inconsistent shooter, that's why when he misses a shot or 2, we have to realize it's not his night, and give the bulk of the minute to Kapono instead of Delfino

Was it Mitchell's fault he was just as inconsistent in Detroit?
The guy is a streaky shooter with major shot selection problems. He takes the same shots regardless of whether he is on fire or ice cold.
No other player in the Raptors lineup takes as many bad shots as he does, so how come it's Mitchell's fault? Sam isn't perfect, but you seem to want to find a way to blame him for everything that's wrong with this team.

I think his shot selection is part of it - but the major reason is his poor shot mechanics. His kind of shot, with your weight on your heels or jumping backward is prone to being extremely streaky. Good mechanics make for less cold streaks.
And he needs to mix up his shot selection too, and go to the basket if he misses his first shot or two. But that should be a rule for everyone but Kapono. Kapono should just keep shooting - quickly - anytime he gets the ball in good shot position. But today he was caught a few times not shot-ready.
Argh.

That hitch at the top of his jumper is ugly. Delfino needs Dave Hopla; ditto Moon, Bargnani.
We should let him roam in the offense rather than stand behind the 3 point line, because I think he is exceptional at moving without the ball. He is much more of a slasher than a shooter, and we should start using him more effectively.
