Dont know if you Nets fans saw but ESPN
reported that Dallas, NJ and Portland were
in talks. Kidd, Stackhouse & Devin were
the only players that were named, they
were reported that if a deal were to go
down Kidd would goto Dallas, Devin to
the Blazers and Stackhouse to the Nets.
Now lots of players would need to be added
for the deal to work, maybe the above link
would be similar to what might go down.. .

Again, this was a ESPN rumor reported on
NBA Coast to Coast, nothing offical and
the link above is just a guess on the deal.

That makes absolutely no sense for NJ. Why would they trade Kidd for Stackhouse, while Devin gets dealt to Portland? They're not gonna get Oden, LMA or Roy for Portland, so they lose out on the best young player in the deal. Garbage.

YUCK!

Why wouldn't we get get Harris?

The only way I deal with Dallas straight up is for Brandon Bass, Jason Terry, an expiring from another team and a 1st rounder or 2.

Why would Portland be involved?

Whats so funny about this trade?

There have been media rumors about Kidd to Denver involving Camby, Gasol is not especially happy, and they(Memphis) save money/get prospects and a legit cheaper big man in the deal.

Whats so far fetched.

We also have to take on Cardinals horrible contract, and Najera is an expiring.

Whats the big deal?

It's pretty fair for all teams if Denver was actually serious in giving up Camby for Kidd.

On ESPN they didnt say who the Blazers
would give up, maybe NJ would be getting
someone from Portland along with Stack.. .

I dunno, just reporting what ESPN reported.
(Which was Dallas, NJ & Portland talking and
talks had Kidd going to the Mavs, Devin to
the Blazers & Stack to NJ.)

Im sure if a deal between those three teams
did go down, NJ would get a lot more then
just Stackhouse.. .But Devin got hurt so
im sure the deal is dead or altered.. .

Wait do we get Stackhouse from 1996 or 1999 when he was still relevant? We have to use a time machine right? Does that cost us an extra pick? I'm lost.

While I think Harris is overrated by Mavs fan, I can't see any reason why the Nets would want anything Portland has (assuming Oden, Roy, Aldridge are staying of course) over Devin Harris, especially when Portland doesn't have expiring contracts.

Rumor from Al expanding this deal:

Nets get:
PG Jarrett Jack
SF Travis Outlaw
PF Channing Frye

Expiring contracts of:
SF Devean George
C Desagana Diop
SG Jerry Stackhouse

Cash (to buy out Stack)
#1s from both teams

Portland gets Devin Harris
Dallas gets JKidd

Other nets would be involved (probably DA, Magloire, etc)

NO idea why we don't get Harris...

Also...its essentially a 6 for 3...so we need to make other trades to make it work...

Just a rumor...we'll find out what happens...

Sucks to lose Kidd just to bolster bench...No starters in that group (maybe Jack, but I'd assume Marcus Williams would get the nod...)...and Portland/Dallas will both be in the playoffs, therefore de-valuing those picks.
Walk away from this ASAP.

How about Jason Kidd for Mike Bibby/Kenny Thomas:

Why for NJN: A young, star PG in Bibby to replace Kidd.

Why for SAC: A passing PG who'd gel better with Sac's players, plus getting rid of Thomas' contracts.

Thoughts?

Well it's been a long time since I've posted (hence my pic with Mutombo), but I've been reading the boards on a constant basis. JJ should remember me from back in the day. Anyway, I put two simple trades together that I think make sense.

Trade 1:
Jason Kidd
for
J.R. Smith
Eduardo Najera
Nene Hilario
2008 Denver 1st

Trade 2:
Vince Carter
Jason Collins
for
Jermaine O'Neal

Gives us a nice prospect in Nene (assuming he can fully recover) and a late first. O'Neal sits the rest of the year so we essentially tank - similar to the Spurs when they got Duncan, and we end up with a healthy O'Neal next year. These deals leave us with a lot of bigs and not many guards, but it's always easier to deal a big for a decent guard. We could always shop Nenad (once healthy), and Boone while his stock is high for a solid prospect 2/3.

This trade is dumb. How exactly is 30 year old PG young? Do you think Bibby for Kidd is fair because you also gave us Kenny Thomas' bad contract. Kidd wants to go to a contender anyway....

Kidd to Knicks

Post#34 » by devnull » Thu Jan 31, 2008 12:14 am

NYPost had an article about Isaiah wanting Kidd. How bout this one (ONLY on the condition that Starbury retires, as he's been rumored to be thinking about). We get a couple of young turks to rebuild with, dump Collins, which gives us tons of cap room for all the great upcoming free agents next year. Isaiah does it cause he "wants a superstar" on his team, according to the article (and 'cause he's dumb).

Plus, there's some kind of poetic justice here...
