Spurs at it again. Not only they will GET Stoudamire, they'll leave Boston without another option at the PG spot.

San Antonio is looking for the Finals match-up already against Boston ;)

I think Boston will get Payton eventually... in a limited role, I think Payton can still be effective. His post-up ability (to an extent), size, experience, smarts, handle, and personality are still there. Can make the occasional jumpshot.

AJ:"I'm Western Conference," he said. "I'm Popovich. I'm for him, for Texas and for the Spurs."

stoudimire would help. i welcome this move because hes another ballhandler and can stretch the floor. and as much as i hate to admit it spurs go cold sometimes and an additional scorer cant hurt. dont know about his D but we should havent too much of a problem with that.

i saw we get him, i know beno is playing great right now but im sure all spur fans can agree with me that he cant be any worst than beno was while he was here.

ot(kinda) for those who think the spurs are slumping and they cant recover, as a fan i can honestly say they go through this every year as far as taking it easy. although they have been dealing with injures in parker, ginobili, duncan, and barry. barry is actually a huge lift to this team because he is our back ball handler and he stretches the floor well.

I just don't see Stoudamire fitting in with Popovich's ultra-controlled offense. The best places for him would be either Boston or Cleveland, imo.

San Antonio is looking for a Finals rematch against Detroit

Fixed

Boston will be tired from being the frontrunner by the time the playoffs start.

Why would he want to go to a team that might not make the playoffs?

First of all, Stoudamire had Boston as his #1 destination. But obviously we don't want him. Ainge must be insane.

Ainge said he doesn't want him. I think we should've gone for Damon, but we are apparently holding out and hoping Cassell will get bought out.

Teams that could use Stoudamire: Charlotte (with all their PG injuries), Cleveland (although slightly redundant with Boobie), Denver (with Atkins out), Indiana (whatwith Jamaal Tinsley's issues), Miami (>Chris Quinn), Milwaukee (so Royal Ivey never has to start again), Minnesota (backup to Randy Foye), New Jersey (depending on Jason Kidd trade), New Orleans (>Jannergo Pargo), Sacramento (after Bibby trade), Utah (>Jason Hart and Ronnie Price), and WASHINGTON.

That's where I'd go:
Stoudamire/Mason
Stevenson/Daniels
Butler/Young
Jamison/Blatche
Haywood/Songaila

I wouldn't rule out Toronto as a possible destination for Stoudamire. Do remember that he started his career as a Raptors and put up his best numbers in Toronto. Also, Colangelo is as good as any GM at going after and getting the player he wants, I still think Toronto is in the mix for Damon.

Toronto would make NO sense at all assuming T.J. Ford will come back this season. The raptors already don't play both of their PG's at the same time so when Ford comes back... Damon is gonna become the 3rd PG and you think that a player who just got bought out and has a choice of teams to go to would be happy bein a 3rd PG on a team destined to be eliminated in the first round? Obviously not

SA makes a lot of sense and I want to see him there. I'm in Toronto so I don't get to catch as many SA games as I'd like but I don't like Vaughn and never have. I never understood why they let Udrih go for practically nothing when their backup PG spot has been weak for a while. If this signing happens then next I wanna see SA finally get another good player alongside Duncan in the frontcourt. Package something like Elson/Barry/1st round pick for a starting calibre PF or C. They should make a run at Kurt Thomas or someone like him who can be had for cheap and produce better than the crap they have there now.
