Orlando vs. Miami Game Thread (Wade, Haslem & Shaq out)

Post#1 » by drsd » Wed Jan 30, 2008 3:41 pm

The injuries are piling up for Miami. Neither Wade nor Haslem traveled to Orlando. Miami is already the worst rebounding team in the NBA, without Haslem to rebound, and without Wade to hit the Js, Howard should be an absolute rebounding factory tonight. As well, the Magic guards should look their best to be All Star subs (for this game at least).

(Merge me to the game thread when that is posted.)

ESPN: Injury-ravaged Heat won't have Wade against Magic

Oh how we would love to find a way to lose this game.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

No matter what the Magic need to be up for Miami tonight.

I want the blowout win more than anyone else as seeing Miami, Riles and Shaq in the toilet is priceless to me.

Maybe Redick and Augustine will get some time tonight.

Miami is soo tanking on purpose, its not even funny. Miami is not that bad, they have Wade (alleged superstar/buttboy of league) and more talent than the Cavs w/o Lebron. The NBA needs to address this issue soon because it is the same thing every year.

How do you propose fixing tanking games?

Teams are free to bench players for whatever reason, and even if they cannot do that, nobody can force the players to play 100% or anything like that.

I'm interested in hearing your take on this.

The best I can think of is different weights for the lottery -- they've already partially addressed that, and at some point you start screwing over the teams that are legitimately bad.

Magic better win this game by 30 points or more. Howard and the starters better be riding the pine by the 4th because we are up so much.

I suggest a starting line-up of:

G Dooling
G Redick
F Evans
F Augustine
C Foyle

With Gortatzilla coming of the bench. Why the hell not?

To fix, tanking, I think that they should get rid of the current lottery system and give every team a 1/30 chance for the first pick. The easiest way to stop intentional losing would be to stop rewarding bad teams. Teams like the Hawks pick aty the top of the draft every year, and they are still in the cellar. What would be so bad about a team like the Cavs getting the number 1 pick after making it to the finals last year? Would anyone be opposed to seeing Lebronand Durant on the same team? Wouldn't that be better for the league? Who is it helping to put KD on a terrible team with no point guard and a bad coach so he can jack up 30 shots per night and wait for the team to move to OK?

He's a type two defenseabetic. The Heat team physician typically administers adrenaline shots at halftime to encourage the big goofy to at least put his hands up from time to time. Oliver Miller is to Weight Watchers as Mark Blount is to defense.

With Wade and Haslem out... I think we might have 8 guys or so ready for action. So BE PREPARED to feel the wrath of Luke Jackson. The turdchucker might look d league-ish, he might dribble with his head down, he might have a 6 1/2 inch vert, he might remind you of Jim Carey from Man On The Moon playing basketball, he might make you think you have a shot in the NBA too... But that's all part of the man's deceptiveness. He goes in for the kill when he gives his opponents a sense of comfort. Luke Jackson FTW tonight.

I really hate when teams aren't playing their best players. I think this will be a hard fought victory for our boys.
