Good list. It's pretty tough leaving Duncan out of the top 5 because of the Spurs decided to force feed him like most of those teams do, obviously his offensive stats would go up considerably. Instead they pace his minutes and his touches so that he doesn't wear down before the playoffs.
It's also funny to see Shaq's name not there but I agree with you. Just 2 years ago he would have been a clear #1 and he probably still belonged on the short list last season.
Yeah I questioned whether to put TD in the top five or not. I think he's capable of holding down number 1 honestly, but like you said, the spurs save him for the playoffs, so it hurts his volume numbers and overall production.

His early injuries slowed him down, otherwise I don't think there would be a doubt at least in the East. Dominant scorers always get to the line at a better average than others at their position. KG isn't as consistently good as Bosh offensively (settle down people). D12 is insane close to the basket, but he's not what I consider a scorer, not enough weapons yet.
In the West, Dirk, Stat, Boozer, Duncan, Brand in no particular order are all excellent scoring bigmen. If Carmelo counts as a big man, then he's at the top.
I reserve any real judgment until we see his offensive output during the playoffs this year.

Whats really amazing is that Bosh is 6th in the league in PER and has taken a huge step up from last year in that department. Most of us thought he had relatively peaked offensively last year. It's all the more impressive given his injury struggles and horrible numbers during the first 4 weeks.

Some thoughts about Bosh. He improves something every season. He is still not in his prime. He's a geek or a nerd in the best sense of the words, he just also happens to be a very good basketball player. I thought his offensive max was KG if we were lucky, apparently I was wrong.
Given how he's playing right now (and assuming this is his new level when healthy), one more consistent weapon on this team and I don't think 25+ ppg is out of the realm of possibility. I never expected to see this many 30+ point games out of him.

Bosh is definitely in the mix at the top.
1) Amare- Part of me believes that the reason he shoots such a great percentage is because he gets so many easy buckets from Nash. But the guy can still dominate inside with his athleticism and he can get to the line.
2) Boozer- Runs the pick and roll better than anyone in the NBA (inlcuding Bosh). His jumper is just as good as Bosh and his post moves are better.
3) Dirk- More versatile in that he can score in a variety of ways while still shooting a good percentage.
4) Bosh- His quickness gives him a huge advantage over most players and he makes a living off the FT line.
5) Howard- Has an ever improving inside game but he still needs to develop a jumper and work on his free throw shooting to move up the list. He has the potential to be #1 for sure though.
NEXT FEW: Yao Ming, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Al Jefferson, Pau Gasol

I'm a fan of Bosh but he will never be the best scorer.
I'll just throw out a few names: KOBE, Lebron, KG, Dirk, Amare, T-Mac, Yao, Duncan. I would even name Gilbert before Bosh.
Bosh has a lot of heart and he definitely can score but will never be the best.
The title of the thread is best scoring BIG in the NBA not all players...

KG is not a better scorer than Bosh. Those other guys, he's clearly in the conversation. Dirk, if he hasn't been tragically damaged by that travesty last season is still the best pure scorer of the bunch.

I don't think Ming has the endurance to be better than Bosh offensively. He has a better post game for sure and he draws fouls at a similar rate while making them at a slightly better rate but I don't think Ming could consistently be relied upon to score like Bosh. Ming is just so big that it takes more effort for him to run up and down the floor and he can't just be told to score on every possession like Bosh has to.
