OT - How many here actually play basketball
I don't know anybody else that posts on the board. I was curious to see if poeple here actually play basketball. Sometimes it gives insight to your opinoins and such. So, whether you just shoot hoops with your kids, or you play competively, follow my example if you would like.

6'1
285 Thick body.
I play mostly PG on both offense and defense, even though I am usually one of the "biggest" guys. I have really good handles, but not the greatest passer. Good shooter, not really good in the post on offense defense. good rebounder. Can block shots and get steals while playing man or help D. (My arms are super long, 6'7-6-9 wingspan. I try to play effort D, not really quick or fast.
Play several Church leagues, not really compatative. Also some city league, but find most of the guys are pricks. Play a lot of 3 on 3 pickups during the summer. Never very compative.
Perfer 3 on 3 or 4 on 4. I have trouble with 5 on 5 keeping track of everything as a PG. Never really played organized ball.
Located in Reedsburg, WI (rear WI Dells) if anybody ever wants to play.

ok
Height: i don't actually know for sure, probably 6'0" or 6'1" ish
Weight: again don't know, i've lost quite a bit of weight but no idea
Position: i'm naturally a pg, but i'll play the 2 or the 3 also
Level of play: i think i'm fairly good, i didn't play in hs because my freshman year was the only year i haven't been interested in basketball
i like to pass, nay i love to pass, to the point of annoying people at times. every coach i've ever had has constantly told me to shoot more. i'm a good 3 point shooter, pretty good midrange shooter, and decent at finishing around the rim. pretty good handle, i have a few effective post moves and i'm a pretty good perimeter defender. i'm a horrible post defender, absolutely awful and i'm not much of a rebounder either.
i'm looking to get into a league
edit: since we're throwing out accomplishments, i hit 5 3's in the first half of a game the last time i was in a league

Re: OT - How many here actually play basketball
Height - 6'0
Weight - 195lbs
Position - perferred -SG but also play SF
Level of play - I play in a bar/rec league 2 nights out of the week. The competition is pretty good and I dont think im better or worse than anyone in the league so im just a bit above average.
Style of play - On offense shoot the three point shot more than anything else. Very streaky shooter...I can miss four in a row but if I hit one I may go off for 20 points in a game. No inside game...Post Game??
But pretty good at drawing fouls when I dare to drive to the hoop.
On defense I contest every shot...however I am not the best on the ball defender but because our team plays zone...I dont really need to be. Also usually play smart...make the right pass etc.
If anyone wants to hoop ever...im down...of course its hard to do it this time of the year.

Man....
31 years old
5' 10"
180 LBS
Shooting Guard
Three Point range
Above average defender
No off the dribble penetration, but can drop into post and foul hard and defend and play a little bit of back to the basket.
Overall: A so so High school player who can score in bunches at a YMCA or rec league game. Not setting the world on fire, but can go off from time to time. A lesser version of and in his prime Bobby Jackson on the Sacto Kings.
Sadly, right knee meniscus tear has me in Grant Hill land of limbo. Just reduced to shooting tons of threes and horsing around solo at the LA Fitness court at Bayshore.
Wish I could play. Played in the Los Angeles Rec League in 06 on my team "The Bucks" and averaged about 10ish a game in a league with refs, and a real scorekeeper, and rules etc. That was a blast.
Dropped 22 one night, that may be my ceiling as a streak shooter/gunner.
....need to have a comeback.

Height: 6'0
Weight: 200lbs
Position: PG/SG, although it all depends on matchups and make up of my team. The other night I had to play center against a guy who was 6'7 275lbs and I actually did a decent job of grabbing rebounds out of his hands and making him run up and down the floor.
Style of play: I prefer to pass and usually only take open jumpers off kick outs although I can put the ball on the floor and take a shot off the dribble pretty decently. 15 foot jumpers from the corner of the free throw line is my sweet spot on the floor.
Defensively I'm pretty solid at staying in front of my man. My main weakness has to be finishing at the rim on a fast break. I'd rather stop the break and back him down than to try a layup at full speed. I got a very good turn around jumper and can put up points in bunches at times. I have trouble continuing to run routes when I don't see the ball.
I play in a rec league in Tosa for like 3 years going on now and I go to a church league every here and there.
Come summertime though it's time to hit the outside courts, on the east side for me of course.

Height- 5'11
Weight- 180
Position- PG
Level of play- Church league and then with friends and stuff. We usually play a couple of games on Thursday's.
Style of play- europa would love me. I'm pass first and a good defender. On defense I can stay in front of my man pretty easily and I am pretty good at stripping the ball when somebody goes up for a shot. I don't make any fancy passes because they usually go the opposite way of where I want them to but I take care of the ball and make good passes.

C, also play PF if there is another big on the team
Played a year of high school ball, tried out for WCTC, didn't make the team.
Used to play in the police athletic league on Saturdays in a church league. Games were off of 24th and capital. Pretty competitive league, a lot of guys played in the city conference, a few played college ball, most people were between the ages of 18-30.
Now play 2-3 days a week in the park for fun with whoever shows up.

Height - 6'1"
Weight - 200-250lbs (I fluctuate quite a bit)
Position - Point Power Forward/Center
Level of play - Pick up games. Never played in high school. Hated the coach and I liked to party too much.
Style of play - Hakeem Olajuwon/Dennis Rodman
I got the 'dream shake' down, love to pass to cutting guards, love to rebound. The low post is my domain, but I'll also dribble penatrate from the wing. Streaky shooter. Prefer defense and passing to scoring. If I was 9 inches taller, I could of been something....

Pass first, athletic playmaker. Professional level ball handler. Can finish at the rim with both hands. Solid midrange game. Range on jump shot is so-so. Good rebounder. Loves and prides himself on playing one-on-one defense. Upper body strength needs improvement. Prefers Nike and Adidas to hoop in.
NBA Comparison: TJ Ford/Kevin Johnson

Style of play- Outside shooter, I will take on anyone in a 3 point contest.
I'm not the most athletic person, but I make up for that with smart, skillful play.

I play for an intramural team in my high school. I played on the team Freshman and Sophomore year. In freshman year I came off the bench and averaged 5 points 5 rebounds and 2 blocks a game. Sophomore year the coach didn't like me and I didn't play. Then after I realized I wouldn't play on Varsity Junior year I didn't play and then started Intramurals. I would be the best shot blocker on Varsity, a lot of people say that but I can't shoot and have limited post moves. You could say I'm like a Marcus Camby type player. I'm pretty good around the basket and time rebounds very well also. I keep my stats for intramurals(I know, gay, but whatever) and I average 13.6 ppg 13 rpg and 5 bpg on 52% shooting. I will admit though, I have been dunked on, and it happened in my last intramural game by a kid that was 4 inches shorter than me. Yeah, pretty embarassing. But there is my basketball profile.
Edit: As for accomplishments, I once scored 14 points as a freshman in a game going 7-8 from the field. But ironically, that was the only game of the season where I didn't have a blocked shot.

Hahaha, we're like the same player, you're just 2 inches taller. But I don't like the post much, I like creating for myself in the lane off of rebounds and nice passes.
