No lost credibility with me. I disagree with your solution, but I agree with the void you look to remedy. So does Phil Jackson.
The whole starting five needs to get that intensity going from the top, not just Kobe. In order for that to happen, Kobe needs to keep setting the table much more than he has. The Knicks game was played perfectly by Kobe. Even if the whole team sucked in the first, he kept letting them try to get it going.
According to Rambis, Phil benched Kobe against the Cavs in the fourth for one reason only
