Calderon POTM?

Post#1 » by Zeno » Thu Jan 31, 2008 4:01 am

Yes I know James' stats this month are sick, but Jose's averaged 14.9 and 10.4 this month plus 3.3 rbs and 1.8 steals.

His shooting is what I think gives him a shot though...

.551 FG% 511 3Pg% 969% FT%

Has a fifty, fifty, ninety month ever even been done before?

Not quite 50/50/90 but in December the Pistons went 13-2 and Rip had....

18.8 PPG, 55.0 FG%, 58.6 3pt%, 85.7 FT% in 33.7 MPG

Sorry but no, if any Raptor gets it it's Bosh. Nash has pulled 50,50,90 quite often especially in the last 2 years. Kobe has done it multiple times as has Dirk. LBJ has done it a lot, Wade, Iverson, Carmelo they've all had it. I know those because they've usually won POTM but they've had like 27 pts and something.

This Month is LBJ or Bosh

Yeah, This Month in the East is all about LBJ and Bosh, not even including Butler. Its been Bosh & LBJ fighting for POTM, with LBJ getting it I think.

Bosh or Lebron will win it this month.

Maybe Calderon should focus on being player of the week first.

NONSENSE :nonono:

Lebron is a career FG 46%, 3PT 32%, FT 73% and hes done it lots

Kobe maybe has done it but i doubt he has ever sustained a whole month of it with a career 33% 3PT

Diddo carmelo with a career 28% 3pt, and he shot 50% for a whole month?

You are seriously underrating how difficult it is to shoot those percentages consistantly.

By the way, not arguing by any means that Calderon should be POTM, just that the quoted post is idiotic.

How does one win the POTM without winning the POTW honour at least once within that month?

I agree that LBJ or Bosh is gonna take it this year. I also agree that Nash has done those stats quite a lot. But we're talking about doing those stats for a month. Not one game, not one week. Dirk and Kobe may have done it a few times - it's realistic.

But Iverson couldn't shoot over 50% from FG and threes for a whole month.

And Lebron has never done it - I'm sure of it. Dude couldn't shoot 50% from 3s and 90% FT for a week - it's tough enough for him to do that in one game.

Anyways... Calderon might get a hint of recognition, but no chance he'll win it. There are more than a two handful of players that may get the nod above him.

Edit... oh and...

I can imagine that happening. It hasn't happened with Calderon, but if someone was to be second or third in player of the week honors for all 4 weeks of a month, I can imagine that player winning... haha.

Calderon himself seems to be focusing on winning games. It's all of us doing the speculating. That's what I love about him. The team is more important than individual accolades.

They didn't shoot as many threes as Caldy probably but I know Kobe has done it and I guarantee that Carmelo did it last year in Nov I think becuase that was when the season started and everything was going in for him and everyone thought wow he's improved everything in his game. But then he came back down to earth.

LBJ now that I think about it probably missed it on ft's a couple of times but his 3pt percentage is grossly underrated because of his rookie season.

So that leaves Nash, Tony Parker, Dirk, Kobe, Carmelo.

Not underrating the percentages, I mean those are spectacular percentages but Calderon is not POTM

50/50/90 isn't as special as people make it out to be over a relatively short period of time. If he averaged that on the season, then we'd be talking.
