Kidd Deal Not Dead??
Sources: Kidd To Dallas Proposal Not Dead
January 31, 2008 - 11:38 am
RealGM Staff Report -
The feeling among NBA executives that the Mavericks are the most likely winners in the Jason Kidd trade sweepstakes is even stronger now, according to an ESPN.com report.
Reason being: Within 24 hours of Kidd saying that it's time for him and the Nets "all to move on" in separate directions, New Jersey and Dallas engaged in advanced trade discussions with Portland on a three-way deal that would land Kidd back with the team that drafted him.
Such a trade would involve at least a dozen players, cash, and future draft picks. In a breakdown of the principles, Portland would receive the Mavericks' Devin Harris and possibly Brandon Bass, New Jersey would obtain draft and financial considerations, Dallas' Jerry Stackhouse and three prospects from Portland (Travis Outlaw, Channing Frye and Jarrett Jack), while the Mavericks would obtain Kidd. I love seeing players change teams and love being involved in talks but man do I hate the anticipation and speculation.
The deadline can't get here quicker
I love the discussion and the extended traffic from the mavs being in the middle of all these trade rumors.

Exactly. We're going to hear about this until he's actually traded and theres still a strong chance it never happens. Doesn't make much sense for New Jersey to keep him at this point, but we may hear about this throughout the rest of the season, and it could easily carry over into next season.

Jason Kidd deserves Devin Harris, Brandon Bass, and Jerry Stackhouse? Oh, my. What a hell to Dallas?
I'd rather trade Dirk and rebuild. Dirk should deserve a lot more than Jason Kidd. I expect Greg Oden, LMA, and Roy in return.
Jason Terry loses the game for us tonight. Please trade him as soon as possible.

i'd only be willing to part with harris if it were for a deal like this...
harris, JET, stack, bass
for
kidd, jefferson
obviously dallas needs to add some more to match, but you get the idea... at least we get a wing man in return... josh and jefferson would be nice running mates with kidd on the break...

This one help us more:
Incoming players:
Earl Watson
Chris Wilcox
outgoing players:
Brandon Bass
Devean George
Jason Terry
C - Wilcox / Damp / Diop
PF - Dirk / Juwan / Fazekas
SF - JoHo / Trenton / Rat
SG - EJ / Stack / Ager
PG - Devin / Watson / JJB
We can get a solid small ball center and gets consistent players. At least, we won't get outrebounded by a PG. If we can get Maggette or Artest for Stack and a first, then we have a really solid team.

possibility
I see 3 possible scenario's in this Kidd-Harris deal to why it hasn't happened yet.
1. Portland is balking at giving up Travis Outlaw. From what I've heard, the guy is having a break-out year after he joined Portland at only 19 years old and has finally become the SF they need beside Aldridge at PF.
2. Dallas is balking at giving up Bass or Gana. They probably feel Devin is enough and they are hoping that the NJ owner will blink first because he knows if he waits another year Kidd won't retain the same trade value.
3. The contracts and money changing hands is just too confusing for the other owners (not Cuban, that's for sure) and they don't feel comfortable doing such a massive deal.
