How much longer

Post#1 » by BrewCityBBQ » Thu Jan 31, 2008 5:29 pm

Until a trade happens? This season is an absolute dissapointment.
Why our front office hasnt done anything yet astounds me.
I know we're a young team but a 5th grader could figure out the pieces the Bucks have on their team dont fit together.
After last nights loss, one thing occurred to me, Michael Redd is needed big time on this team. Because this is a team of players who can't score.
Villanueva and Mo Williams can score when they want but CV thinks he's Reggie Miller and doesnt play to his strengths. Bogut has been impressive lately but the team seems to go away from him when he's not hitting every shot he takes. Bobby Simmons needs to stop camping at the three point line.
I am f-ing frustrated as I'm sure all of you are. But come on make a damn move already Herb.

Besides getting rid of Gadz and maybe Simmons contract wise, the thing I would like to see is a new coach. someone that has been around the block. We are not going to get fair value for Redd, I want to keep Yi and Bogut and even CV for that matter. The rest of the team value is so low, we would essentially be hoping for lottery miracles for the next 5 years.

Or option 2 is to blow the whole team up, keep Bogut and Yi, and stockpile picks and cap if we can.

I see no easy way out...

I agree Monitor an experienced coach would also be nice. Kohl keeps going with the el-cheapo's for coaches and look where its gotten us, mediocrity land since 2003. This will continue until our front office starts making sound, smart decisions. Which if Kohl, Harris and Coach K. stay unfortunetly this is where the Bucks will be for years to come.

Kohl is already paying 2 coaches this season, he won't pay for a third.

While I agree that a move needs to be made I'm not sure it will make that much difference as far as fan interest. We aren't going to be bringing in a superstar. Maybe we can dump a contract or two and while that will be a good thing for the future it won't mean much now.

Fan focus has gone from the Packers right to the Brewers.

Kohl is a US Senator with real power. What does he do with that power - he casts votes along party lines. He has no real causes he'll stick his neck out for, or major policy changes he champions. He doesn't make waves. In other words - he's a hands off Senator.

As a NBA team owner, he feels the need to exorcise power. He has no interest in hiring top notch people and trusting them to build him a winner. He wants to have final say on all major decisions.

Larry Harris may be a good GM. Maybe he had all the these great trades set up. Unfortunately he is unable to sell his ideas to the owner. To make it worse he seems to be content to with that. In the end it will probably cost him his job.

I can't believe they will make any major moves with a lame duck GM. Considering how few wins it will take to make the playoffs in the east makes this situation sad.

the thing that frustrates me is that teams like the Bucks wait until the deadline before they think of making a move. They put it off thinking things will get better. They should realize things don't just get better based on hopes and desires. if the Bucks want to actually get into this play-off race, they need to make a move and acquire some talent now- not wait for another two weeks.

I would have really liked to see the Bucks acquire C Webb and start experimenting playing CV and Yi at small forward. the Bucks are naive if they believe YI or CV will ever become a dominant long term power forward solution.

Trade next year's first and Bobby Simmons for Andre Miller. Last thing we need is to get younger.

sad, but likely true. I think you just made me realize that I was in denial. Maybe I will pull the plug on this season. Read more or something.. (sigh..)

Its not just about fan interest though, its about winning. As bad as the Bucks are right now they are teetering on the edge of the playoffs. Perhaps a minor move here or there that brings in a role player that will fit more into this team might give us that extra push to win a few more games to get into the playoffs and generate some fan interest.

At this point I would be absolutely shocked if a trade, other than bench fodder, took place and I am not even convinced that will happen.

Randolph/Balkman for Simmons/CV/Squirrel

Someone should be fired for not making that trade.

Ditto. I've been asking around and things seem to be very quiet. I never expected Redd to be traded and I doubt Mo will be dealt either, but even players like Villanueva, Simmons, Gadz and Bell look like they're staying put. I do wonder if Villanueva's recent comments might get Kohl to back off his desire to keep him.
