JASON KIDD TO THE MAGIC

Post#1 » by abneriii » Thu Jan 31, 2008 8:48 pm

I think the Magic should try to go after Jason Kidd. Trade Jameer Nelson, JJ Redick and a 1st round draft pick. The Nets can get a point guard for the next 5 years thats younger and one of the best shooters in the NBA with Redick. The Magic get a play maker, a rebounder and a floor general. Since Lewis cant rebound, Kidd 8 rebounds would help Howard out a lot. After next season Kidd contract will come off the books and the Magic will have cap room. With this roster and Battie possibly coming back by the ed of the year, the Magic probably can make the Eastern Conference Finals. Let me know what u think about this trade.

Just because a team is in need of a point guard does not mean they should go after Jason Kidd. Kidd does not fair well in a half court game, and has always flourished in a fast break system. He would be much more effective with a team like Denver, or Dallas. If anything, Orlando needs a PG who can shoot and its no secret that shooting has always been Kidd's downfall. Mike Bibby would fair much better in a Magic jersey. What good would Jason Kidd be on a team that simply needs to dump the ball into Dwight and wait for a kick out / swing pass. Kidd's best attributes (leading the fask break, finding the open man, and rebounding) and all these things that are not needed in Orlando.

People keep talking about Orlando as a potential suitor for Kidd but he simply does not fit into their system and will not play there. Just because a borderline contender team is in need of a good PG, and a good PG is in need of a borderline championship team, does not make for a match made in heaven.

Kidd would not make Orlando a better team.
Go Raps!!

Just because Kidd would significantly improve the Magic and give them a competent point guard doesn't mean the Magic should trade for him.
