I really don't see Canada cracking the top 3 here. There are just too many good teams. Canada can beat puerto rico, germany, cameroon, korea, new zealand, cape verde and lebanon but Croatia, Solvenia, Brazil and Greece are going to be tough. Canada may have a chance at besting Brazil. Other than Barbosa going off they didn't really impress me but they were missing Varaejo.

It will be an interesting tournament. I hope Canada doesn't embarass themselves.

Let's hope someone can convince Nash that he should play.

What's funny? He's right, it is FIBA, not FIFA. Don't compare the greatness of FIFA with this garbage.

Who can Canada beat other than Cape Crap, and Cameroon?

can't wait for the Uros Slokar sighting, maybe even a Roko Ukic one against Canada.

anyway, the way i look at it, Canada has a chance to get to the semis.

Canada has to beat Korea (a perimeter team) as Slovenia will likely win the group. Then Canada has to beat Croatia or Puerto Rico. We know that Canada can win against PR - just shut down Carlos Arroyo.

Against Slovenia playing in Greece I don't think Canada has many chances to win (25-75 I think), but anyway Korea should be an easy matchup to qualify for the quarterfinals in second place of the group.

Edit: I forgot, will Carl English play? He is incredible at 3 point range.

he is??? since when? in all fairness the only time I ever watched him play was during the FIBA qualifying tournament but he seemed like a chucker to me. He was possibly playing out of position though.

He is playing actually for Gran Canaria in the ACB averaging 14.6 points per match. Some weeks ago Gran Canaria played against Barcelona on national tv and he was unstoppable. His shot mechanic is really quick for the defense.

When did I ever say he was wrong? Seriously, I was agreeing with him, I knew there would be someone who wasn't smart enough to figure it out, next time I'll be more elementary :nonono:

Dont forget about Hoffa....he could go off too. Maybe eat Sammy D and punch out Leo at any given moment. He might start hitting 3's too...remember that one game!

Canada will likely beat Korea and get into the next round. Then they will likely play Croatia. Without Nash, they will lose, but it would be a good game to watch since we'd get to watch Roko, and Carl English played in Croatia last season so he might go off on them.
