Kobe!
Lebron has not demanded a trade or had major conflicts with coaches, fans, sponsors, teammates, or 19 year old white girls.

Lebron doesn't know OUR people of Darfur..I heard he thought Ira said "da fur", so he thought he meant those people that make his fur coats..of course he said rejected the petition..
I'm surprised he didn't call Newble out about it..

True but was just stating that Kobe has likely heard a lot worse from the crowd then Lebron.

I hate on Kobe's off the court antics all of the time, but I find it stupid that he gets grief about it, but LeSlave gets a pass..IIRC, Kobe never **** on someone doing something for charity..it's a shame that so many people don't know about the incident, and that so many people downplay it..such a shame that the best player in the NBA is selfish and snobby, and doesn't respect where he came from..what a **** sell out..

I don't think it's about his ancestry it's about doing the "right" things with your money and fame, well to be honest I guess you could even simplify that and say it's about doing the "right" thing in general regardless of who you are.
Even if Lebron didn't give anything to the cause, which I don't think you can obligate him to do (because for all we know he could be doing tons of great things for people with his own money without the media hype - and even if he's not it's HIS money), it's his faux naiveness of the situation, and of global / ethical situations in general, that annoys the hell out of me. To that extent I found Lebron's Nike sweatshop comments more disturbing than Lebron's Darfur incident.
I can understand if Lebron's media buddies want to carefully monitor what he has to say, but have a little bit of a soul and just say that the events of Darfur have been horrible. You don't have to pledge all of your money away, but have a little heart.
edit: Damn it Harry, always posting when I'm busy posting about your post.

Lebron might be the best player in the game but come on...this happens to every star player it just gets overhyped by ESPN and the internet because ESPN in particular has an investment in him.
aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Yea my bad, I had to edit my comment. I read up on the situation with Lebron and darfur....absolutely ridiculous. "it's his faux naiveness of the situation" what annoys me too. It's a shame he didn't go to college, because he's obviously not very knowledgeable and very ignorant to many things going on in the world. Global Icon like Ali....my ass.

I disagree with the overhype or star players in general get hyped. Great play brings on and fuels the hype. Lebron is playing like a mad man right now, so he's getting more hyped then ever. DHoward started of the season with a bang and got tons of hype. Dwade won a championship, and got tons of hype too. The hype is usually deserving, and does not start spontaneously.

Aren't you doing, repeatedly, basically the same thing you are criticizing LeBron for - ripping him for his charity work when you really have no idea what he does? The NBA thinks enough of his charity work that they gave him the community assist award for doing exactly what you accuse him of not doing, giving back to the community he's from.

I don't give a **** what Lebron does for charity after the comments he's made..he is supposed to do that..he's a multi-millionaire, he is expected to give money out to charities once in a while..you know why I don't give a **** what he does? because he's already proven where he stands on the situation..
how do I know if he is actually the one who takes the time to pick out a charity and give it out to them? and of course he's going to have image consultants to tell him to give to charity and make appearances for charity..EVERY celebrity with that much money has given money back to the community at one point, they have to..they need to maintain an image..he probably has millions sitting around that he doesn't need anyways..
but what I do know is that Lebron made inappropriate comments towards Marbury's charity efforts..and I know that for a fact, BECAUSE IT CAME OUT OF LEBRON'S MOUTH..why should I believe that he cares, when he's made comments like that?..
"we at Nike hold our standards high"..that is one of the worst comments I've ever heard in my life, considering the context of it..ridiculous..I can't believe anybody can defend it..
I don't give a **** about the petition, I was just making a joke about it, because he probably wouldn't care anyways..I don't believe athletes need to get involved with social issues, so I won't rip him for that..
but the Marbury issue is different, because he didn't have to say anything like that..there's nothing you can really say to defend what Lebron said..it's pretty pathetic of him..
