We're talking about Billy Knight here. He isn't in the JKidd sweepstakes any more than he was in the Shaq, Kobe and Garnett sweepstakes.
He won't pull the trigger on any major deal because he doesn't know how to build a team.
NJ will not take anything less than 1.5 or 2 starters to get Kidd. They aren't going to settle for players at positions where they are set (Carter, Jefferson). The Hawks don't have enough if you keep Marvin, JJ, JoshS and Horford out of the picture.
Portland has the depth to do it and they have done a 100 percent better job rebuilding that team in the same time span as Atlanta. They have a much better nucleus than the Billy built Hawks.

If the ASG wants to gain instant creditability they should acquire Jason Kidd. They would gain some respect from me by just getting involved with the talks. This is one of the reasons why Billy needs to stop being hush...hush when rumors come out. At this point the city needs to be informed on what the franchise is trying to accomplish.
